Question about Silencer (HD Project)

Hello. For the past couple weeks I've been having a blast with the RE4 HD Project, and was wondering, does the Silencer (which you find near the area with the chainsaw sisters) affect the performance of the Handgun at all? Or is it just a cosmetic thing?

To my knowledge it reduces damage and increases range, it dosnt actually lower detection tho

Gotcha. Glad I sold it cuz the Red9 is better for range in my experience anyway. Thanks for the answer!

Yeah Red9 is generally known as the best handgun, as soon as you max it out it basically becomes a rifle with a better fire rate and more common ammunition

yes it does lower detection.
try using with garrador and you'll see.

Honestly i had no idea, i still wouldnt use it tho, specially at that point in the game, the r9 out performs all other handguns really quickily

RE4 is a very easy game even on Pro, you don't need to minmax it and can enjoy different guns without worrying about which gun is better and focus on which gun is cooler or offer different play style.

Honestly even if you are going for a Min-Max setup the standart Hangun has its place on Professional, due to its higher critical Headshot chance it has the potential to quickly clear fodder, and even if you are concerned about ammo efficiency, it can stagger enemies as easily as the Red-9, if not quicker due to its higher firerate. Sure, the Headshots arent as consistent as the Red-9's higher Base Damage output, but on average they yield better results since most enemies at that point either have enough Health to not warrant using a Pistol or wear a helmet, where the Handguns higher Firerate allows for greater Crowd Control since at that point most of your Damage comes from Melee attacks anyway. The Silencer is an added Bonus that when you play slow and methodical allows you to clear some rooms easier, considering they dont have an event that automatically aggros enemies (and yes, garradors hate the silencer too, which makes their encounters much easier)
