Beta Patch V.1.0.2 Now Available! (UPDATE: Mar. 17th)
March 17th, 2014 -- Version 1.0.2 patch is out of beta and is now public for all RE4 players. We'll likely have another round of beta with the next patch. Please stay tuned.

Beta 1.0.2 Hotfix (March 14th)
We just updated the beta patch to version 1.0.2. Just a few small fixes that were caught shortly after the 1.0.1 release which some have reported here already. You will need to quit the game completely and wait for the 1.0.2 patch to download. As with previous beta updates, version number is visible at the lower right corner of the title screen. Please continue to report any oddities or bugs you encounter.

It would also be helpful if you can note the patch version number with your post.

Bug fixes:
  • Fix for laser sight “jumping” to the right after shooting in “Modern” aim mode
  • Fix for unresponsive state issues in Separate Ways/Another Order mode
  • Cutscenes in 30fps mode are again displayed at the proper 30fps rate

Previous Known Issues from version 1.0.1 and before are still unfixed at this time.

Beta Version 1.0.1 (March 13th)
Hi everyone,

Without further ado, the development team is now ready to roll out the beta patch. Please give it a spin and post your experiences here, both good and/or bad.

Our main goal here is to collect feedback from participants in order to verify whether the new update address the bigger issues you may have experienced in the original release.

How to access Beta
  • From your Steam ‘LIBRARY’ list, right-click on Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4 and select 'Properties'
  • Select the ‘BETAS’ tab.
  • Type RE4BETAoptin (case-sensitive) in the 'Enter beta access code' field and then click CHECK CODE.
  • Now, select "beta-public – 1.0.1" from the pull-down menu and click CLOSE.
  • Wait for the Steam client to finish downloading the 3.4MB patch
  • Launch Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4 and verify that 1.0.1 is visible on the bottom right section of the ‘Press any key’ title screen.

Change log
Changes:
  • Removed mouse acceleration from Keyboard & Mouse controller setup screen. “AIM MODE” option is now present instead, and mouse sensitivity settings have been re-tuned to accommodate new setting.
  • Users can now choose between two mouse control schemes: "CLASSIC" and "MODERN." MODERN setting makes the aiming utilizing native mouse functionality while "Classic" setting retains previous calibration from the original game.
  • "GAME RESET" in "RETRY OR RELOAD" has been relabeled to "RETURN TO MAIN MENU"
  • Relabeled “POST PROCESS” in graphics option to ‘COLOR FILTER’
  • Master volume level increased.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed ready-knife delay when using mouse and keyboard.
  • Calibrated animation speed at which pottery, lamps, boxes, barrels etc. fall apart when frame rate is set to 60fps. Set pieces getting destroyed during cutscenes such as the castle gate and gazebo have also been recalibrated.
  • Fixed an issue with the character performing quick turns when pressing aim while turning.
  • Reduced possible audio desynchronization during cutscenes.
  • Fixed texture on Ada's Blacktail (Bottle cap)
  • Fixed flickering or prolonged black screen during active gameplay on the Water level in Mercenaries Mode.
  • Fixed problem with Krauser's bow in Mercenaries Mode Castle level.
  • Fixed problem with enemies not spawning (Garrador, Leader Cultist etc.) in Mercenaries Mode Castle Level.
  • Fixed the speed at which hens lay eggs when frame rate is set to 60fps.
  • Removed green flashing screen that appeared after pre-rendered cutscenes.
  • Fixed Leon’s distorted voice when roundhouse-kicking Verdugo while he’s frozen.
  • Fixed flickering in the first custscene of chapter 5-1.
  • Mine cart QTE difficulty reduced for PRO level difficulty.
  • Restored the blue light bloom effect from the merchant’s torch.

Known Issues:
  • Leon’s handgun texture turns black shortly after the cabin cutscene.
  • Texture from one of the wooden barrels near the jet ski ride is missing (turns into a black texture)

Important Rules
Please keep this thread clean and focus specifically on the aforementioned fixes/additions for the purpose of collecting feedback based on your experience with the beta.

Any off-topic rants or confrontational replies that derail the thread will be removed as it becomes very difficult to collate feedback. Thanks for your understanding.

Once we see enough thumbs up with the fixes and tweaks (and not break anything else along the way!), the patch will be made public without password protection.

About Save Data...
Save data is compatible between public version and beta version.
While we do not anticipate the patch to introduce fatal bugs, we recommend backing up your save file just to be safe.

Save file is located in the following Steam installation directory:
(xxxxxxxx is a number unique to your Steam User ID)

IMPORTANT: Please provide the following information when posting in this thread.

A) Your System Specs (please be as specific as possible)
1) CPU name and model
2) Graphics card/chip model
3) Video driver version number
4) System memory size
5) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
6) OS language
7) Motherboard/chipset, if known (or if a laptop, make/model)
8) Game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, etc.)

*Optionally, it would be very helpful if you can also generate[www.google.com] and post a link to your dxdiag file -- a file generated from DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- which provides detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC.

Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
This step in particular is super helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

I liked the mouse aim before, but now it's pretty much perfect. Also, thank you for fixing the waterworld map.

Well, steam went down for a while, still cant boot the client in online mode, the beta patch so far so good, the animations on jars, etc, the cannon door, the Heli in Island, all work well with 60fps, Mercs WW is working fine, same as Castle and Krauser at 60fps, the gloom, i really dont notice it, i think when others post comparison shots ill be able to tell a difference, i do notice a certain glow, but maybe thats it.

For now, the only thing that got my attention a lot was the controller, the PAD, when you select Modern in the Mouse settings actually your aim becomes faster or with a fast reaction with the pad, i dont mind it, i think is quite cool since it was a bit "slow" before, but maybe others will feel the aiming with the pad is faster or harder than usual, again, to me, is fine...

see people. capcom does care. it just takes time to fix it.
next patch is shader fix please. and also fix the ammo drop issue. it only drops rifle ammo whenever i have one my inventory.

Rifle still 30FPS, major slowdown and wrong gamma. Still hoping for next patch. I cant play this game with 1080p in 60FPS. Edit:Some flickering black lines in 1-1 chapter.

Beta Patch is working amazing here, but I found a issue that happens only in the beta 1.0.1 (1.0.0 was fine)

1) Issue: Saddler 1st cutscene is flashing two times, it happens right after Ashley says, "No..." the flash shouldn't happens twice in a row.

To reproduce this problem just go in Movie Browser and watch the 5th cutscene of chapter 2, (or just play the game until this cutscene).

Capcom please take a look in the reload of rifles& the Bowgun of Ada they're still locked at 30fps, please add reverbs/echo voices sounds like the GC/Wii, gamma & in specular shaders effects on the next updates!

It would'be good if someone can confirm this issue.
