Wrong Colors and Wrong Gamma
The colors in the game are all wrong because of the gamma settings.

Voodooman posted a detailed explanation earlier.

Here are some screenshots showing the difference between Ultimate HD (wrong color) and Gamecube (correct color).

It looks like someone wiped crap over everything.

Please fix it.

i actually don't see much difference myself. its just that the Ultimate version looks darker on my side. but hey maybe its because i changed the colors and gamma in the Nvidia control panel, so that all my games looks more colorful and darker :)

"Also game has not only problems with midtones, Whenever you start the game ,there is a Capcom logo, it should have purely white background, but it looks gray, game gamma is brighter in midtones and shadows, but in highlights its actually darker and does not show proper white color.

However i fixed problems like this in many games such as any NIXXES port, or recent Mortal Kombat, RE5, RE6, RER (all recent residents uses Xbox 360 gamma which is weird and stands near 1.8 while pc correct non linear gamma should be 2.2, so any resident on PC is actually brighter than it should be, but only RE4 has problem with darker highlights) "

Voodooman's post about the issue.

i dont see much difference that is offensive, they have much more practical problems that hinder the gameplay on

The difference is very obvous especially in motion.

It makes the Gamecube version look much better.

i guess it also depends on what screen your running it on. some monitors have better colors than others.i do agree that some of the RE games are actually on the bright side. one of the reason i decided to change my general gamma and color.

I posted a detailed post on this in the issue thread as well here. It's not simply a gamma issue, the highlights are clipped at something like RGB(185,185,185), this is why the fires are all so dull and muted. I play with brightness +40 which remedies this somewhat, but apart from the brightness level the highlights are also blown out compared to the GC/Wii version.

From what I can tell from various screenshots posted, this is actually an issue that stems from the 360 port and was thus simply carried over to the Steam version.

Also I just made a quick attempt to bring the colors a bit closer to the Wii and reduce the orange tint using the post-processing gradients. Below Steam caps were captured with brightness +40.

Wii version:

Steam version with no post-processing:

Steam version with my post-processing:

You can get it here: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/OXnezZiCln/

Extract it to the BIO4\gradients folder (do a backup of the original ones first) and use post-processing 3.

I don't see what the big deal is, people will always find something to complain about especially on HD "remasters".

This again? you people love to repeat the same topic.

Yes the 360 version has the same issue.

It makes the game look very ugly compared to Gamecube.

thats why i say its not something "that is offensive" :riddle: it wont deter me from playing the game as long as it does not look really horrible. But i know there are people that will, thats just me

This could very easily be fixed by the developers and make a huge improvement to the game.

maybe if you spent more time playing the game than looking for minor problems you may actualy enjoy it,just a thought.

Huge improvement.

Makes the game looks much more like it is meant to be.

This isn't a minor problem, it effects the entire game doing things like turning grey skies into brown skies.

RE4 is meant to be bleak not brown.
