repack xwb file cannot work in RE4 UHD
I unpacked the wave bank file .xwb to a bunch of .wav files. And I replaced some of the wav files and repacked it with DirectX XACT tool of wave bank. But when I put it back (bio4evt.xwb), the game freezed with black screen in the begining. I don't know what should to do the sound bank file (.xsb)

I also try to replace the openning movie .sfd file. I try to replace it with mpg file but it gives a black screen, but the game is still running, you can skip it to continue. I search .sfd is the CRI company's middle ware: "sofdec" for movie playback in game system. It encodes with almost MPEG-I video and some audio format. I don't know where can I find the sofdec encoder to repack my own video to let the game play. I used TMPGEnc multiplex function to replace the original sound track with mine. But it still does not work.

Help!

It works fine, you're probably missing something.

As for unpacking lfs.. :

Did you use DirectX SDK or XNA studio' XACT to repack the xwb? Is there any parameter do I specify? Did you modify the correponding .xsb file? I am so confused.

I used the wrong order when adding the file.
But after I used the correct order adding files. The game still did not work.
And I also used all the original wav files and repack with XACT, the game still freezed at the begining.
After repack all the same wav files with XACT, the xwb file size decrease some bytes. The original bio4evt.xwb filesize is 655,190,016, after my repacking with same wav files, the bio4evt.xwb filesize is 654,954,092.
I also use the HxD to look at two file Hex, it showed me only first 10-20 bytes are same, the rest of them are not at all.
original one:
WBND....,...4...`...”...(...¼....................P.'....÷...event.................
repacked one:
WBND....,...4...`...”...(...¼...............¼...°¶.'....÷...bio4evt.............

There must be some settings not right.

Yes, after switching to "Streaming", the hex file shows exactly same with data part except first 40-50 head chunk.

And I put back to the game folder. The game works.

But after I replaced some of wav file I want to mod, the game still can run, but all the event dialogue conversation voice have gone.

I just replaced first two dialogues in the begining of the game: Leon sits in the police car and talks to them. The files are 0000009c.wav and 0000009d.wav.

My mod wav files are a bit shorter (0~1s shorter) than the original ones. I use the same pamameters as the original one: 16bit 32000khz, 2 channels stereo which causes the rate bit is 1024kb/s.

I also tried only replaced the second one: 0000009d.wav, left the first one (0000009c.wav) unchanged, to see if the first one have some sound. But the result is the same. All the voice in the bio4evt.xwb file are mute.

Is it because my mod wav file is shorter than the origianl one? How can I enlong the shorter one?

Here is my XACT 000009c.wav screenshot:

Yes, in original PC RE4 port in 2007, there was a dubbing team make a whole cutscenes dubbing with my country's language and make it a small movie. The dubbing guys are not game modder, they just dubbing things of movies and TV dramas of their own voices. (But they are very good. Their voices are very nice!) And someone extracted the sound track and put it with Hi-def RE4 cutscenes movies and added the fully translated menu, scripts etc. Made the game Hi-def fully translated one.
This time, the cutscenes are real-time rendering. It's better. So just want to use their sound track to put them together to get real-time rendering dubbing cutscenes.

Yes, I made it. Both the two wav files work!!!

They are working perfectly!!!

Thanks a lot Rain!!!

There are 160+ pieces of dubbed wav files. I just to see if I can do it. If I have enough time, I may do it all. But now, the most important thing for me is review all the algorithms and try to find a job!

Do you have any idea about the pre-recorded movie: the .sfd file? It seems easier, since many players can play that .sfd file. It is very similar with MPEG-I file. But when I directly put MPEG file, the game does not play it at all. And there is no .sfd encoder on the Internet.

Great, I can use this encoder to switch my own dubbed audio stream. It works!!!
I changed the openning CG, the first few cutscenes until the viliagers hear the bell.
It looks pretty good!!
Thank you very much for a lot of help!!!

billsxz hi man. I go the same problem here. I tried to make voiceovers for ganado and this crap dosen't work at all ((( The Files were extracted from em10, I have made my wav voices gave them same names and replaced original files. Flow rate 768 Then made em10 with DirectX XACT tool and changed 2 original em10 files. Game still able to running now but theres no a lot of ganados sounds wich I made they are disappeared. Actually it seems to me the whole folder does not work Thats very sad. If you solved this problem, tell me how you did it. I spent a lot of time on this and do not want to throw everything away. Perhaps I would like to go further and find Leon's dialogues in the movies to translate and voice-over it. How can I do that? Where I can find it? For yesterday I managed to make Ganados, Illuminados, and Salazar voices. But it still just usuless wav files. I have no idea what I shoud do to make them running in the game. Help! Please give the list of programs that you used to do this work and specify what should be the characteristics of the wav files. If you could look into the matter please do a tutorial on this subject.
