restart checkpoint and try again only solution

Wow, you're really unlucky then. If you're in the room where these enemies kidnap Ashley, shoot the hive above down (takes some time, I think it has 50 health or a little more). It will drop a LOT of the eyes, I think there are at least 2 red ones and 1 blue.

Nope :D Looks like those are common and the other two are scarce to rare.
I ended up with... I think 22 Green Eyes or something crazy like that, 5 Red Eyes, and only 2 Blue Eyes throughout an entire playthrough. That was shooting the hive like Phantron said above. Blue and Red are pretty rare otherwise, so definitely try that to at least complete one Butterfly Lamp.

There should be like at least 1 Blue one you should find regardless, at the Nest in the Castle. Reds are also semi common. Greens.. Greens are everywhere!

It is not Uncommon to find at least 2 blues before you finish the game, 2nd often for me but not always in the caves long after you finish the Castle, seems to often be the 2nd best chance to find one.

I'm assuming 1 specific bug out of them all drops it and you can easily kill it and have it fall to it's doom out of your reach.

If you check a resident evil wiki, it says that red eyes are dropped when the insects (Novistadors?) are about to attack you. So if you can kill them right as they are coming to jump on you, you'll be rewarded with a Red Eye. I have no idea about the blue eyes... those seem to be luck-based (aside from the one dropped from the bug's nest in Chapter 4-2).

Good luck!

I actually found the 2nd lantern before I got 2 blue eyes at the hive! :P

I did that, but I have both lanterns :/ I had enough to get one to it's max value

Yeah I was only getting green eyes no matter what, the only way I got any red eyes was killing the giant hive in chapter 4-1. Even killing them when they were attacking with clearly red eyes still yielded a green eye.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug and not just extraordinary bad luck, as literally no other colors except for green were dropping at all until the hive. Either way I definitely remember red being much more common in the other versions.

Yeah, probably gonna be fixed in the next patch

yes I also only got green ones and through a third visit in that creepy sewer a red one, it was random. Also you can snipe their heads from a distance, look out for the slime that comes out of their mouth when they are using maximum cloak lol

I always thought it was weird that these enemies would die with 1 hit no matter what if they're flying. This game actually has great programming, but that thing is the exception.

I did blow up the hive an hour ago and it spew out 3 red gems, 2 blue ones and a ton of greens ! I dont know if it was from the hive alone as I blew it up from the balcony first and jumped down to finish off the rest of the bugs and after that fight the whole groud was covered with gems :/ So who knows... but just reload your save if you are unhappy with too less reds and blues, cheers

It's purely luck based aside from the 1 that is guaranteed by the nest in Chapter 4-1.
I got a Blue Eye from my first Novistador in the sewers, but I ended up dying shortly after when another grabbed me and vomited acid on me. I swear the mouse controls aren't well done since I've never failed a "shake to get free" QTE until RE4 PC.

well, i got 3 blue eyes at a time, and i never ever thought that would happen to me, just my luck.
