Mouse Acceleration option in the settings does nothing
This game suffers from negative mouse acceleration, whether the option is on or off in the settings.

This means that if you move your mouse 5 cm on your mousepad slowly, it will move a lot on screen. If you move your mouse the same distance but very fast, it will move only a little bit.

I believe this is the problem most people are having regarding mouse aiming, even though some of them can't articulate about why the aim seems off.

Someone has made an youtube video showing this problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPbqwNwvJEw

Here is hoping it gets fixed.

revelations pc version also suffered from negative mouse acceleration. it was eventually fixed, so hopefully those of you who like mouse aim will be happy. i still had an easier time at the shooting gallery with broken mouse aim than with joystick.

Yes, I remember that. But people were more vocal about this issue back there. I`m afraid they won't fix it this time because there is only a handful of people complain about this.

UP!

Yup, noticed this too. Hope they'll see this and fix it.

I wouldn't be surprised that the setting is for people who have Mice that have an Accelerator built into it and only the translation of the Options was messed up.

Being Post Processing is actually filter overlays instead of Post Processing.

I tried using my Mouse's Built in Accelerator and it does speed up aiming, to a very annoying degree. This could be an intentional feature to slow such Mice down when aiming? I never tried it when having my Mouse's accelerator on yet.

Well, I'm not sure if I undstand what you are saying, but this is not exactly about the speed. I can adjust the settings of my mouse so it would be slower or faster, but the acceleration problem that the video I posted illustrates would still be there.

Bumpin this because it does deserve a response.

+1 fix this ffs.

I disagree entirely with those calling for modern TPS controls. The game is perfectly balanced for tank controls, anything else would ruin that delicate balance, design, and tension.

Mouse Acceleration, on the other hand, directly impacts how I interface with the game. It makes it considerably more difficult to be accurate with my shots. It needs to be gone.

My thoughts exactly!

Keep in mind that in the original RE 4 PC HD back in 2007 or so, you had a limit to how fast you could turn, look up and down, etc.

That is to say, that if the controls are the same in terms of difficulty, the maximum turn rate and look about rate is fixed. This is part of the game balance.

So, if you move the mouse very quickly, you will hit the max turn rate limit of Leon. This is also why you had a quick 180 turn button in the original.

I do not currently have the new version of the game and cannot directly speak to your current issues, but looking at that video, you do not have "negative mouse acceleration", instead you have maxed out the turn rate on Leon.

Negative mouse acceleration would not keep Leon moving at the same rate once you exceed his turn rate, it would simply slow down the increase.

At any rate, Leon, in the original game, will not turn faster than a set amount. That turn speed limit is part of the game, and should stilll be hard-coded in.

EDIT IN: Also in the original RE 4 PC HD back when, the max look around speed was slower up and down than left/right rotational.

Best wishes.

Not really. The problem is not about how fast you can turn, not even close. I really apreciate you taking your time to write an extensive text, but your description of the problem is not accurate.

Resident Evil Revelations have had the exact same issue as this (I know, I pre ordered and was there asking for a fix) and it got fixed in a couple of days.

I'm fairly confident they are trying to get a patch out quickly for RE4, hopefully fixing the mouse controls makes it into the patch notes.

Like the other person said, this isn't anything to do with the turn rate of Leon. Leon's turn rate is fixed and not analog, but his aiming rate is not. If you have played the Wii version you can aim from the corner of the screen to the other corner as fast as you can move the cursor, aiming mode is not restricted like his regular movement is where you have to turn with the stick (or wasd).

This isn't a game design decision but is a bug in the mouse code which needs to be fixed. The movement on screen should always be the same when the mouse is moved the same distance, regardless of what speed it is moved at.
