But that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Capcom has stated they supported true 1920x1200 before they released the damn game. And the game is rendering behind these black bars.
If it displays then it is supported. The key here is that they aren't stretching it like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ emulator to make it look ugly and deformed. I would much prefer them do the black bar setup than get an ugly stretched image.
I don't think you understand what I'm getting at.
The game is rendering just fine behind these black bars. It's almost as if they are there for some cinematic purpose. If you removed these black bars, you would not get a stretched image, but an image actually rendering at 1920x1200.
Instead, the only visible space I have is 1920x1080. For some reason, they have completely blacked out the rest of the screen for no reason. I can see the game [/b]rendering and working behind these black bars, very slightly due to what looks to be an anomaly (thin strip of pixels).[/b]
I very much doubt this is to do with stretching issues.
Overscan my friend. If this isn't a stretching issue then it's most likely overscan which can cause even more issues than stretching the image if they displayed information that isn't intended to be viewed. Regardless if it's stretching or overscan, it is a pretty small issue to be cursing the entire game about. Your monitor can most likely swap to 1080p if they bother you that much?
I don't remember that but I definitely don't doubt it, but I do know that certain resolutions of this version don't have the black bars for some reason. Good to know that though. I haven't played GCN since like 06.
It's just an unfortunate disappointment that a 'HD re-release' still has age old issues such as 'overscan'. You would have thought that with a true 'HD re-release' overscan would have been eliminated.
You cannot claim that the game runs at 1920x1200 before release when it in fact doesn't. It runs at 1920x1200, with two big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
It won't stop me playing it, but it truly is a shame that in 2014 black bars are still an issue.
&& I would change the resolution to 1080p but that stretches the image and looks hideous (but of course, removes the black bars).
You should probably be blaming 2005 for that and not 2014. It was designed that way from the beginning.
It's truly a shame you buy a non Industry standard monitor ( 16:10 AR ). Then ♥♥♥♥♥ when something doesnt support it.
Besides 16:9 is wider then 16:10 anyways. Get with the times.
Because more space on my screen is obviously less deisrable than having an thinner, smaller experience on 1080p. I could not give a ♥♥♥♥ about "industry standard".
I'll never go back to 1080p and to be completely honest this is the only issue I've had with resolutions since I bought these monitors. I have not yet run into a game that does not truly support 1200p until this so called 'HD remake'.
I am entitled to ♥♥♥♥♥ all I want when said game entitled 'HD remake' doesn't support the resolution every other recent game release has no other problem supporting.
When I can see the game rendering behind these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bars, I know it's laziness on the developer's part. I've played every port of this game and this must be the first time I've truly criticised it.
As a huge fan of 16:10 as dorky as that sounds, I might be able to shed light on the issue. many games can be easily modified to display in 16:10 however more often than not the games assets and rendering engine do not adapt well and you get glitches. The most recent example I can think of is Sonic adventure 2 HD on steam. sometimes button prompts will be stretched out, and some levels I.E route 101 will have blank spots on the beginning and end of the map because you weren't supposed to see that far. I hate that there is not native 16:10 support but they probably put the black bars there for a reason. I do hate how the black bar has that little gap. I’d say keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it on the community hub In till they fix it like I am and play in 1080p while you are waiting that way you wont have the annoying gap.
