Missing GFX effects from Gamecube/Wii version
Will this have the missing effects which were included in the Gamecube/Wii version of the game? The HD ports of PS3/Xbox360 did not have those effects. Its specifically the slime effect on some of the monsters.

Nope as its not based on the Gamecube version engine which Nintendo paid for BTW to make their GCN exclusive Resident Evil remasters!
Dreadfield 22 ENE 2014 a las 15:06
i hope that game contain all the effects the gamecube had and i dont see the slime effect on the mosnter of the jail i think maybe some effects are hard to make on a game is old and the engine of wich was made cant replicate those same shaders like the specular ..

how do all the videos about the gamecube version compare with the x360 one? i mean all this video showing a particular effect, does the hd version has those and if not how much of this are missing?
i've been pretty impressed in seeing the dynamic lights and overall the fire effects in the gamecube...it addss a whole new level to the game

Wrong. RE4 runs on the same engine across all platforms.

This is what I'll be basing my purchase decision on. If this turns out to have good lighting and the visual effects from the Nintendo versions, I'll pay the $20, but if it's a meh port then I'll buy it on sale.
UberNoodle 23 ENE 2014 a las 0:01
THis is what it has. If it's what you want, you can pay the $20. ;)

Capcom is locking threads like this and linking to an endless wall of text, what GFX are included. Funny thing is:

In this wall of text is not a single word about lightning quality. Shadows are only mentioned as "three qualities to chose in the option menu"

This thread will be locked down in a few minutes/hours by capcom as well and it´s pretty sure, that they won´t say a word about lightning (again!).

I hope the slime effect is in this release, the 360/ps3 versions looked certainly not that good when bosses came into the picture.
Faptain Hook 23 ENE 2014 a las 2:15
It wont. The gamecube version is still going to be superior than this re-re-re-realese. This is only for stupid fanboys who wish to piss away 20$ on something they already own. "BUT THE STEAM CARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS?!" Is now thier rallying cry. Good ridiance lol.

I'd never have thought that the difference between the PS2 and GC was that huge.

"Best graphical experience" MY AS S if these effects are not in the ULTIMATE version.

"Feature wise, the new PC version is based on the Xbox 360 version, which in turn is based on Wii/GCN versions.

Many of the texture assets have been redone (not everything, mind you) from the ground up, as you can see in the screenshot gallery on the Steam Store page. I've uploaded a handful of side-by-side comparison shots for good measure just to give everyone an idea.

The game has an option to toggle between original and HD texture pack. HD texture pack is approximately 5GB while the standard pack weighs in at 1.6GB (they're in separate directories). After excluding common redistributables such as DirectX and Visual C++, the game itself comes out to about 11GB.

Similar to the Xbox 360/PS3 version, most cut scenes are rendered real time and in-engine. Some cut scenes, such as those from the Separate Ways content introduced with the PS2 version, were only captured in video. Aside from that, movies such as the opening CGI movie are naturally upscaled from the original 2005 release (again, same with all other versions).

Graphics Option - Game allows you to select whatever resolution your Windows OS supports. That said, the game is optimized for 1920x1080 (16:9) format running at 60fps and has been tested as such, but it seems to work in higher resolutions as well. Anything beyond 1080p has not been formally tested and therefore not 'officially' supported by Capcom, but I've had it run fine on 2560x1600, 2560x1440, and 1920x1200 settings. Your mileage may vary. In-menu, the game will also have anti-aliasing options up to 8X, three shadow quality settings, aforementioned texture quality toggle, full screen on/off toggle, motion blur on/off toggle, and one other 'fun' graphics option that I just won't mention at this time so as not to ruin the surprise. There are other graphics options not surfaced via the in-game menu, but I'm sure many of you tinkerers will find it without problem. Standard disclaimer: any tweaks you make outside of the game menu aren't officially supported by Capcom ;-)"
