actually you could always turn quickly in RE4. The console version is not the "Dev version" the console version as i rememebr included a "quick 180" button sequence as the controller with its deadzone made it impossible to do 180's like you would a mouse.
on the Dev version (the one run on workstations before they remade it) they would have always had smooth mouse control thus why it feels weird to you because you're used to the console design.
its common sense when making any game on a workstation PC that you ensure your mouse has the best control so you can run endless tests during development (which would be hard if the mouse was not accurate) before you bring it over to the controller thus why the "Dev version" and this version are the only two of the RE4 games to include smooth control with no deadzone (As mice dont have this).
RE5 had the same prinicple as RE4 when it came to the mouse controls the console version needed a 180 button to componsate while the PC version still included the button it wasnt needed as the mouse was easy to do 180 degree turns with.
It doesnt make the game worse, it just throws peoples idea of "How the controls should be" because most people have never played RE5 on PC to actually understand why its control scheme works so well with RE4 (Though RE4 used it first on the dev version).
