Wii or Steam version?
I've never played RE4, yeah I know "Do you live under a rock!?" haha. Should I buy the HD version on Steam or buy the Wii version? Thanks.

Get the Wii version if you have a Wii. The game just works/looks better on Wii.

If you don't own a Wii, you have a decent personal computer, and/or want higher resolution / keyboard and mouse control... then you probably should consider Steam version as long as you aknowledge that the Steam version doesn't in all cases work as well as the Wii version and in fact is broken in some rare cases.

Either way you cannot lose. RE4 is a good game.

I got both, i love the game on the wii becouse of the controllers, have in on the ps3 HD but i ahte it there since i cant strafe. And now on the fence on the Pc HD version. So i'd say if you have a wii, go for it. Cant go wrong there. You know the console can take the game without lag and so on where the pc might run into problems

If you like 480p that is. Also, the shader fix does a lot for it.

Thank you all for answering my question and giving your opinion. I will buy....

Beyond me why people would want to play at 30fps. Being 60fps is reason enough to get the UHD version.

I found the Wii version to be a bit easier. You know, being able to instantly aim to the other end of the screen in no time, plus sway reduction. But it's a very solid version, and more simple too if you have limited knowhow on fixing potential computer problems :AdaRE4:

Lmao @ The person who said the Wii one looks better hahahaha. Such missleading post.

I'm sure the Wii one runs at 1920/1080 with Anti-aliasing x8 AFx16 and 60 FPS.

♥♥♥♥ out of here with that nonsense. I'm guessing this person probably played it on a toaster.

The Wii version is one of the best game on the system and the best way to play RE IMO. I hated playing RE5 on PS3 after playing RE4 on the Wii

Probably because they understand what really matters and aren't mindlessly number-chasing.

I'm not so sure that the Wii would look better than the HD PC remake at max settings, that seems dead wrong. That said, I have heard that a lot of people can't get it to work 100 % right at 60 fps on the HD PC remake. So, I don't think this comparision is all that clear for many.

Personally, I'd go with what is easier for you the customer to deal with. Do they still make the Wii if your console breaks? Then that's not necessarily a bad choice. Do you like Wii controls ? That's another plus. Does the HD PC remake actually work as intended? That's a plus for it.

I'm not buying a Wii, so that's out for me. I have the old RE4 PC HQ for pc, but it does not work with any mouse mod. So I'd have to replay with keyboard. I can relearn but it will take days to get good enough.

If this game was $10 or under, it's an instant buy for me. This Steam Sale has not been as good, so far, as I expected and I have the other RE games I want (6 and Rev) so I'm good there. I may plunk down the extra 2 bucks onto RE4 HD PC just to see how good it is.

I have one concern. How optimized is it? I'll ask that in another thread right now.
PC version looks A LOT better, it is 1080p and 60fps and anisatropy and AA. And hell 60fps feels natural, especially matters for controls. Sure, it might miss some effects (though it is missing a lot less than x360 and ps3 releases, specularity is there that's for sure), and needs beast of a PC to run 60fps mode, but there is 30fps which works like a charm. Plus usual steam features.

I haven't seen it run, but Wii games look terrible on HDTVs (WiiU might be different). I'm debating on Wii or HD port myself.

I have it for the Wii and It's an amazing game. As long as you have the component cables it's not terrible to look at. The motion controls are so natural. I do want the pc version too just for the HD, but ill wait for a better sale. Since you never played it, you can't go wrong with any version. I would recommend the PC version just for the HD.
