I personally play on the "HD" setting using "SweetFX" (https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/5413/negaarmax-sweet-fx-fix) that makes the visuals more clean and enhance the colors.
I also use "re4_tweaks" (https://nipkownix.github.io/re4_tweaks/) for better fov, smoother animations and movement and it also fixes many bugs\issues with this port.
So, in short, I just noticed few better textures, better character models and better items textures with "HD" but if you want something that visually truly matters go with the HD Project.
How can you not tell lmao. I first got into RE when it was relatively fresh on the PS1, and this version is mindblowing compared to the original. Hoping to try out the HD on my Chris run.
Also yes everyone should only play RE4 with the HD mod from now on. There's also an HD mod for REmake but it's not quite as ambitious.
