Mercenaries: Tier List / Favourites
I post this knowing full well that the concept is completely redundant (competitive scoring in RE4:Mercs ended 6-8 years ago) -- but it'd be fun to see how others react, or how you view characters based on your own preference.

So, let's get this started > top to bottom.

A) Wesker:
Shock horror. The most popular RE antagonist has dominated both RE4&5 Mercs for years. Decent health pool, the most versatile weapon kit, obscenely good melee moves and access to all grenade types. Purists can only complain that he has the fullest inventory (requires a little management if you scoop up everything) but in short, he has a very powerful answer for everything. Music may be a matter of taste -- but few can deny his is arguably the most badass track to smash Ganados to.

B) HUNK:
It amazes me how Capcom endlessly refuse to flesh out HUNK. Despite being a villian (one we know very little about), he's ridiculously popular -- one of my own favourites since RE2. I can see a lot of people may prefer HUNK to Wesker purely for his neckbreaker (a god-send vs Salvador/Bella's) though as amazing as that is, it only truly shines in 1-2 maps, with others containing non-neckbreaking special enemies. On the other hand, he begins with one weapon and one grenade type, making inventory (and item drops) easy to manage.

C) ADA:
The red spy rocks the highest speed (tied with Krauser), packing a SRifle (always good), and two melee setup options. Restricted mostly to Flame Grenades (not entirely optimal) but these can setup a TMP ground-trap full of Ganados idly waiting for you to grab a multiplier bonus before popping their heads off in mass numbers. Lowest healthpool means players must be cautious when using her - and lack of access to immediate (non SRifle) burst can sometimes be problematic - but overall, she's a bit more versatile than the below.

D) KRAUSER:
Normally I'd place him higher than Ada. Same speed, biggest healthpool in the cast, powerful melee and, of course, that devastating arm. Having a knife is also a welcome (and often underappreciated) fact. Flash grenades only are also preferable to the rest (as you can setup said melee and/or instantly pop any plaga-heads). However, the Bow will be the deciding factor in whether people like him or not, as it requires far more precision to use safely -- and there's nothing more frustrating than a dropped combo thanks to missed arrows, even at point blank range. Made up for by the arm, which will handle any and all major threats in AoE one-shot fashion.

E) LEON:
Poor Leon. With base melee moves, a measly handgun and a Shotgun that can only really semi-shine when point blank in someones face, leaves him arguably the most difficult to succeed with compared to the rest. Unlike most of the others, you will be forced to sponge resources and time into all special enemies, as well as dedicate time gathering preset grenade drops for desperation. If you are new to Mercenaries and are finding it difficult - rest assured that it gets easier the more characters you unlock. Leon's not bad - he's just not great in comparison to anyone else.

So, there you have it. Do you agree? Who's your favourite(s) and why?

You have the potential to make a guide.
My preferred guys: Krauser and Hunk. Their abilities was litteraly thought for the mercenaries mode.

Thanks for the reply.

I could write a guide - but it wouldn't be tiered, just based on all my years of playing RE4. Problem is that the HD update is a port of a different version compared to the old-PC port (example: Mercenaries actually includes chickens in the village, different placements etc). I did do a basic stroll through HD mode casually in order to unlock characters but I didn't take it seriously like I did in the old days//version.

Ultimately, all characters can work - but the thread is just to encourage mercenaries character discussions really, and see who people prefer or enjoy playing as.

I still consider Wesker to be No.1 due to his kit -- but I'll always prefer playing as HUNK.

Another fun fact (not really related). It's more score efficient to score 2x50 combos than it is to score 90-100+ like above video. It also makes it easier to plan how you want to use the multipliers. I think the game is too old to write a serious guide - the day of competitive scores is pretty much over, so it would only apply to those hoping to get 4-5 star ranks (handcannon).
