QTE Problems
So I've been playing RE4 (duh), and have run into some problems with the Quick Time Events that appear in the game. I'm currently using a Rock Candy PS3 controller to play the game, and it works perfectly fine, but the problem I'm having is that events that require me to push certain buttons show up as just numbers, and these numbers don't seem to match any kind of layout for the controller I'm using. An example is when running away from the boulder chase scenes, the event prompts me to push '2' repeatedly, and, obviously there is no 2 button on a controller. I managed to figure out which button '2' is. But a later problem appeared when I had to dodge it, the buttons that prompted were '8+6' respectively. Naturally, I died. I'd try and figure out which two buttons are 8 and 6, but that's a pain in the butt, and a huge waste of time. Not to mention it makes me feel crappy since I know I can complete those events no problem if the right buttons were shown.

Anyways, to cut things short, I have to ask if anyone else has had this problem and has been able to find a solution, I'd appreciate the help.

After playing through the game on both a PS2 and here with an Xbox controller, the only thing I can offer you is some potential button bindings.
I *think* the only combination buttons you need to dodge and do other QTE events are A+X (or X+Square) and LT+RT. I have never seen B+Y (O+Triangle) so I hope this helps - although it will obviously still need some initial guesswork!

8 and 6 sound like they're the L2/R2 buttons. Just a hunch there, as normally 1234 are the face buttons, then 5 and 6 are say both left buttons (left shoulder and left trigger on Xbox or L1 and L2 on PS), and 7 and 8 are the right buttons.

I've only seen one other person get the 1/2/3/4 come up, but they were in Germany, so it isn't only you ;).

I'm using an Xbox pad. In game, the only QTE prompts I've seen have been RT and LT together (I'm assuming this would be L2 and R2 together, but if that doesn't work, try L1 and R1), A and X, and X or A singularly. So X and Square, and two bumper buttons are all you need.

Could be wrong, but hope some of this helps. Post if you find out which ones work for you?

Good luck!

(Sorry if grammar is out of whack, rather sleepy.)

Thanks guys! This was actually helpful, I was able to figure out which ones they were after reading this. Turns out I mapped the Ready Knife button to L2, which is why I had a tough time figuring out the answer. The combination I was looking for was L2+L1.
