How to replace one skin with another

I have the 2005 version (not to be confused with the UHD version because that version came out in 2014)
Anyway, I'm looking for help to be able to install skins in this version of the game
More specifically, it's a skin that only works with Ashley, but I was wondering if I can replace this skin with the lion skin (including all lion outfits)
Could someone help me please?

hi! I know how to do it, it's a long and difficult process to follow, but there are tutorials for that if you want to try. But like I said you need some modding knowledge for this.

If you have a mod from the old version (ubisoft) the mod will not work on uhd because they are two different games, that's why you need modding knowledge to convert it.

Now if you want to look for mods that have already been made for UHD, I have some on Nexus or on my Patreon.

I think you misunderstand me 😅
I'll go step by step to be clearer, okay?
1- I'm not looking for mods from the previous version (Ubisoft) that work on the UHD

2- I'm aware that since they are different versions (UHD being the improved version that came out in 2014 and the one I have which was a poorly made port that was released in 2007 for PC which is the version I have) the installation of the mods is not the same (Although from certain reviews I've seen that the version I have is easier to install mods or skins)

3- What I'm looking for is to be able to replace Leon's skin with another one (including his suits) That is, I'm looking to replace the normal suit, the special suit 1 and 2 with the skin that I have downloaded

4- I don't have any kind of knowledge about these things (Reason why I opened a thread) and reason why I'm looking for help

aaah so you have that old port by ubisoft and want to install the mods?
at the time we used a tool called GCA Extractor to extract the original files (https://modsvault.blogspot.com/p/tools.html)

for example, the xfile.dat file, we renamed it to xfile.gca to use with the tool and it created an xfile folder where we replaced the files with the mod

If you have the mods on hand, just copy and paste them into the xfile folder, there's no secret there.
for reference these are the files:

pl01 - ashley normal
pl05 - ashley special 1
pl17 - ashley special 2

pl00 - leon jacket
pl08 - leon no jacket
pl10 - leon special 1
pl19 - leon special 2

I wanted to ask you one last question
You don't happen to know what the folders or files of the Leon that is seen in "Separate Ways" are, right?
For example, his 1st appearance is in the town, after a few minutes you can see Leon running, attacking or hiding from the villagers (At that moment Leon wears his jacket) and his 2nd appearance is in the castle fighting against some enemies with a TMP in the area where the rocket launcher is (At that moment he does not wear the jacket) and the 3rd appearance is at the end where he does not wear the jacket either
You don't know what his folders or files are, right?
