Resident Evil 4 With PS4 Controller
Hi everyone! I just purchased Resident Evil 4 from steam and I really want to play it with my Ps4 controller. I have my Ps4 controller already configured to steam with the button lay outs but its impossible to play like this! is there anyone who know how to configure the buttons to make this game playable? THANKS SO MUCH

That's how I managed to get a fully working ps4 controller + buttons ingame.

First download this app for your ps4 controller: https://inputmapper.com

And you'll need a buttons mod for re4: http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/978/darksamuss-ps-xbox-button-mods

Let me know if that works :)

What do you mean by it is impossible to play? Are the controls not working, or are you just not used to tank controls?

This is the default button layout, and how the game is meant to be played.

Except just imagine it with a ps4 controller, its just that the left stick/dpad are in different places, other buttons are the same.

It takes a little while to get used to the tank controls, but once you get used to how you need to move around areas it gets more natural, just remember to use the quick turn (left stick down + X) to get around quickly.

do you know if im going to have the same problem with RE5? i also downloaded that game but i havent started it up yet
Misagi Dec 23, 2015 @ 1:23am
Yeah, it's the same thing. But it will work perfectly with inputmapper. You'll have to download a button mod for re5. Add me as friend, I'll give you the download link, because providing a link for a RE5 mod on RE4 forum would not be logical .

What's the input mapper for? Does it make it so that X is the select button on ps4 controllers, cause it's circle for me and it's kind of annoying

I know this is old but to fix this you should go to Controller Settings in Steam then disable all of the checkboxes. One should be like "Enable Big Picture Support" or something. Once all of those are disabled you shouldn't get double inputs anymore.
Its been six years but what sampson said is still valid! On Steam Settings, Controller tab on the left, check OFF Enable Steam Input for generic controllers. I'm restating what he said since the menus have changed since those six years. Good luck, kings n queens.
