Resident Evil 4 (2005) large storage size?
Why is the Resident Evil 4 (2005 aka original game) so large at 15+ GB?

It's a game from Playstation 2 which would have been 4+ GB at max and whilst I understand some textures may have been upscaled it seems odd that the game would now be this large.

Can somebody shed light on this please as I can't find any information online as to why this would be, thanks :)

The HD version maybe, I remember turning that off in the properties and the size significantly reduced. I could be wrong.

Do you remember to what size it dropped to when turning the HD version off?

This could very well be the case I just thought it unlikely that HD textures for this game would increase it's size that dramatically, essentially a 10+ GB increase

The game is around 9GB total because how this game was ported to PC, there's a lot of repeated files that it's too much technical to explain here, but one of them are same files for different language regions.

Some tip:
The game downloads the textures twice, ImagePack and ImagePackHD.
If you set the in-game settings to HD you can delete the ImagePack folder, same if you set the settings to Original, you can delete the ImagePackHD and save some space.

When HD Project was released, it were around 40GB of files, so I made my own lite version with only 20GB, using the techniques to remove repeated files.

I was just about to buy and install this game and was lucky to read this section, is the lite version still valid now?

Happy i found this because i was worried about how much of the files stays on my laptop after uninstalling, considering the game is 9GB but steam said at the beginning it's 24GB for some reason.
