Game not launching on Windows 11
The game will not launch on Windows 11. It briefly shows as Playing in Steam but nothing happens. Clean install, no mods. I set my refresh rate to 60 in the Windows settings before launching but it makes no difference. I tried launching the executable via a terminal but I get no additional output. I tried the 4GB patch thing but it didn't help. I tried installing the HD mod that came out recently but it still won't launch.

I'm pretty sure that's a part of the HD mod but just in case I tried applying only re4_tweaks after a clean install and it doesn't make a difference.

I installed HDproject and my game no longer opens, from the black screen.

I get no black screen. Fresh install on Windows 11 literally nothing happens except Steam says Playing for a few seconds. If I look at Task Manager I don't even see a process spawning but I don't swear in never does, it might just appear and disappear within milliseconds or it's further down the list or something.

Where is the log? How can I see what goes wrong? I tried launching it via the Command Prompt and that doesn't work either.

Specs:

12700K + RTX 3080
1440p 120Hz

Like I said I tried setting the refresh rate to 60 Hz before launching the game. Makes no difference.

Disable Nvidia overlay/replay and this should fix

Build 22000 here (also 225xx) without and with the Mod = 0 Problems

Make sure you have all necessary Runtime installed, which will likly be missing especially on a fresh OS installation.

Also make sure, with the tweak or HD Mod installed FixDisplayMode is set to true in dinput8.ini

I'm having this issue too. Also on windows 11. Just playing vanilla game, no mods etc. Any solution?

Well, I don't know about Windows 11, but on 10 you need to use re4_tweaks to run the game properly (otherwise you will get a black screen or 60HZ refresh rate which is really bad for your eyes).

It's frustrating to not have any way to troubleshoot even. You would think a modern piece of software spat out an error if it failed to launch or instantly crashed.

What runtime things do I need to install? I'm used to Steam installing things like that for me.

if i read the log correctly, which may be horrible wrong, your game.exe is set to Win8 compatibillity mode - make sure this aint the case.

You could also give it a try to run the game from another location. Some Games are hating to be under C:\

Make sure your documents folder path contains only english characters. RE4 will not launch if that path has non-english letters.
