Are the HD Project files safe ?
So it says on nexus that the files for HD Project have been quarantined.

What's up with that, are they safe or not ?

Has anyone actually tried this mod and using Kaspersky to see if it appears as a virus ?

Of course it's safe. I don't know why Nexus flagged it, but you can trust this mod more than you can trust your best friend.

Why would i trust it that much since i've never even used it ?

Also from the instructions video they mention about copying .dll files - it's no secret that some .dll files out there are actually dangerous and can cause infections.

I'm not talking about specifically about .dll files from THIS mod but i'm just pointing out that .dll files in general can be infected and can actually lead to a PC being infected in the process.

I didn't bother scanning it. Didn't think to. I've trusted Cris and Albert for years, and after playing for a couple hours, all I can say is it's a treat. No problems so far, and it looks and plays wonderfully.

I understand and am aware of that. But again, it's as safe as safe gets. I can't express it to you any more clearly than that.

I know and personally i haven't downloaded it yet to see.

But i just wanted to ask if there have been users that use Kaspersky and had any red flags come up with the files.

Thank you Lukas !

I was actually hoping someone that uses Kaspersky would've downloaded it so i know.

In that case i might go ahead try it out myself to see... been waiting for the mod to release for the past 5 years or so... i know it's been like 8 years in development but first time i heard about it and checked it out it was 5 years ago and i remember being super hyped for it.

I use kaspersky total security no problems here

IIRC, I believe that the Nexus automatically quarantine files that contain an exe or a dll, or any other such file type that is has concerns with. So long as your AV doesn't pop any warnings, which it shouldn't for the HD project, you're fine.

If you don't feel comfortable about using dll files, don't install the one provided. Keep in mind that you'll have to manually patch the game using this: https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 (then you'll claim that you don't download random .exe's from the internet)

You will also not get access to many fixes and improvements.

If you want to download this dll directly from the source, check here: https://nipkownix.github.io/re4_tweaks/
You'll have to manually configure it though or replace the .ini file, since the re4hd 1.0 download already has it preconfigured with optimal settings.

Isn't that patch included in the winrar downloads ?

On their website it doesn't say you need to download it separately although the download itself wouldn't be the actual problem... the only real problem would be if the antivirus actually flags it or not.

No, the patch is applied on bio4.exe by this dll (re4_tweaks) if it isn't present. Otherwise you have to patch manually.

You don't need to download separately, I'm just providing where it came from since you're unsure about the safety of the included one in re4hd 1.0.

Oh but i mean if you use the .dll you don't have to download the patch manually right ?

Cuz it didn't say anything about that on their website cuz i'm betting they assumed everyone would just use said the .dll file.

Correct, you don't have to patch manually if you use the dll. It will ask to do so for you after installation.

If it doesn't work/crash you'll have to patch manually anyway, as instructed on step 12.
