What's stumping you? Any specific thing you're struggling with?

If you are talking about first village in the beggining (with campfire and two policeman in it) - climb on tower and attack all enemies (when they are trying to climb) with your knife. It will take a lot of time, but you will win)))

i'll give you a proper tip, run into the small house on the right of the fire, close the door, shoot the door so there's a hole in it and just keep knifing at the hole. You'll never get hit, they'll never open the door.

SirDmitry I tried the tower trick and it worked thank you, everyone else thanks for trying to help.

You have to use the environment. You run way faster than zombies. First start to move around the village to make zombies stacking when they follow you. So you change a multiple threat to a single threat, coming from only one side.

In this game every single bullet is important. There is a good combo : 1 bullet in the head, then kick, and when zombi is at ground you cut him with knife untill he die. This way you can kill a zombie using only one bullet. You can even use zero : wait a zombie behind a fence (he climb it to cross), above a ladder, and use knife at the good moment, and repeat untill he die.

It's a little different when you have to fight big waves of zombies. Later in the game you will have shotgun (1 shoot multiple kill). But for now you can use the tactic people here are telling you. Wait above a ladder with the knife : easy kill.

Few tips for later : plagas (zombies with strange heads) can be kill with a single flash grenade instead of multiple headshot. Zombies with chainsaw take more damage from shotgun in the head at short distance than with the submachinegun or sniper. Somes miniboss you will meet (looking gollum in XXL) can be partially killed with knife. Shoot them untill they fall to knee and approch them to press "E". You will climb on them and damage them with knife. Kill everything you can kill with knife. Upgrade weapons damage in priority (more damage = less bullet spent). Use every explosive like the shotgun : on big group of zombies. When you find the rocket launcher, keep it untill you meet a boss that you can freeze with nitrogen and use on him, it's the only way to kill him. Magnum bullets are very rare and should be kept for boss or extreme urgence situations.

Easy wins won't get him to get better in the game. With these kind of tips people will run all the time instead of enjoying the game and killing some "zombies". Thats why the game provide you guns, isn't it? If this would be an Outlast game I won't have a problem to agree with your tip. Anyway, he is playing on Normal difficulty, no need to make the game easier as it is in that difficulty LMAO. I remember struggling as well when I was younger and played this game back in 2007, but sure not dying 10 times there. After one or two deaths I got better. Running here and there and killing everything in my way til the Ganados disapeared (they went to Bingo, as Leon says). Btw, you need to use the knife a lot in RE4, don't hesitate to use it for finish off downed Ganados. You will save a lot of ammo. And also melee is really important as well. And another tip, use the shotgun for groups. You will never be surrounded that way. But if you are a player which panic a lot, then this game isn't for you. Or you get better or the game will eat you alive. Is not a game for casuals. It is made for think how to survive in every situation. Play clever, learn the game mechanics, save ammo (with the tips I said above) and you will see an improvement. But never follow tips like the one SirDimitry gave you. Easy ways won't get you anywhere in gaming. And you won't enjoy the game either. Hidding? For what you got the weapons then? Do you get my point? Hope it was useful for you. Good luck with completing the game :LeonRE4:

Nice tips, community, nice tips..... people will never get good for their own with those kind of tips. Casuals...... want everything in a silver plate. That's not gaming. You can give some tips about gameplay so they can play better (as I said above in my other comment). I feel sad for see such players here in Steam....

This is the kind of tips you need to give to new players. Not like the other two people did (go to the tower and wait). Good job. Listen to this guy, OP

This moment in village is really tough. And it takes place in the first 10 minutes of the game. If gamer isnt familiar with such type of the game - he/she could quit and never return to the game.

Some time ago I try my fisrt Pro run and replayed this village more than 20 times. For me its the toughest moment of the game. So i decide to offer The Roswell Menace a chance to avoid this.

Remember the next locations - there are small groups of Ganados, you have time/place to various tactics and learning how to play. After village we get a nice learning curve which increased slightly. But this village is very very hard ,It is really bad game design.

I'm a bit late to the party it looks like but I'll throw out a few things I didn't see mentioned by others.

It was previously mentioned about shooting the enemy in the head, kicking them, and then knifing them. However, there are a few more things worth mentioning about that.

First, your roundhouse kick can hit multiple people. Shoot 1 person in a group, run up, kick, and all of them are now laying on the ground.

Second, you are invincible during melee animations such as the kick. It's not a very long window but it does give you a bit of a safety net, especially if you're running into a group of enemies to kick them. And yes, timed properly it can even be used to be immune to things like explosions or chainsaw swings.

Explore places thoroughly. The shotgun is in that first village area where you were dying (I'm assuming you found it). There are lots of treasures and similar things that require a bit of looking around to find them. I highly recommend buying the various treasure maps from the merchant for your first few times through the game until you memorize their locations.

Enemies do not throw their weapons at you if they are outside your field of vision (such as if you're looking away from them).

Yes, the shotgun is amazing for groups but so is the rifle in certain situations. Rifle bullets penetrate multiple targets so if you manage to properly line them up you can headshot or at least damage multiple enemies with one bullet. Magnums also have this property when you find them later in the game.

Very important note for upgrading weapons. Buying a capacity upgrade fills the clip, so free bullets. So if you know you are going to buy that upgrade then resist your gamer urge to reload your weapon and go back to the merchant with it empty (or nearly empty at least). This is useful for all weapons of course but especially for things you don't get much ammo for, like magnums.

Evil Dave I see your point, I was just stuck and considering quitting the game before SirDmitry's tip.

Dont act all high and mighty cause the games easy for you on normal some people aren't as good at games than others, your tips aren't even that great there basic things I did when I was 14 when the game 1st came out the tower trick is actually a great tip for beginners cause the next parts on the game aren't that hard at all and u learn as you go. The village part is rather difficult at first cause u get overwhelmed and dont know where to run especially with dr Salvador chasing you around

My Jesus spot is get the shotgun and after this go to house with a locked door. Break the lock and get inside, so wait the enemies.
Every time enemies open the door, just shoot them using a shotgun, the door will close and repeat until the cutscene starts. You can use the handgun to stun enemies shooting in the head and kick them back.
At least for me, in professional mode works too.
I remember when I play this game for first time and was a pain this part.
