In this game every single bullet is important. There is a good combo : 1 bullet in the head, then kick, and when zombi is at ground you cut him with knife untill he die. This way you can kill a zombie using only one bullet. You can even use zero : wait a zombie behind a fence (he climb it to cross), above a ladder, and use knife at the good moment, and repeat untill he die.
It's a little different when you have to fight big waves of zombies. Later in the game you will have shotgun (1 shoot multiple kill). But for now you can use the tactic people here are telling you. Wait above a ladder with the knife : easy kill.
Few tips for later : plagas (zombies with strange heads) can be kill with a single flash grenade instead of multiple headshot. Zombies with chainsaw take more damage from shotgun in the head at short distance than with the submachinegun or sniper. Somes miniboss you will meet (looking gollum in XXL) can be partially killed with knife. Shoot them untill they fall to knee and approch them to press "E". You will climb on them and damage them with knife. Kill everything you can kill with knife. Upgrade weapons damage in priority (more damage = less bullet spent). Use every explosive like the shotgun : on big group of zombies. When you find the rocket launcher, keep it untill you meet a boss that you can freeze with nitrogen and use on him, it's the only way to kill him. Magnum bullets are very rare and should be kept for boss or extreme urgence situations.
This moment in village is really tough. And it takes place in the first 10 minutes of the game. If gamer isnt familiar with such type of the game - he/she could quit and never return to the game.
Some time ago I try my fisrt Pro run and replayed this village more than 20 times. For me its the toughest moment of the game. So i decide to offer The Roswell Menace a chance to avoid this.
Remember the next locations - there are small groups of Ganados, you have time/place to various tactics and learning how to play. After village we get a nice learning curve which increased slightly. But this village is very very hard ,It is really bad game design.
It was previously mentioned about shooting the enemy in the head, kicking them, and then knifing them. However, there are a few more things worth mentioning about that.
First, your roundhouse kick can hit multiple people. Shoot 1 person in a group, run up, kick, and all of them are now laying on the ground.
Second, you are invincible during melee animations such as the kick. It's not a very long window but it does give you a bit of a safety net, especially if you're running into a group of enemies to kick them. And yes, timed properly it can even be used to be immune to things like explosions or chainsaw swings.
Explore places thoroughly. The shotgun is in that first village area where you were dying (I'm assuming you found it). There are lots of treasures and similar things that require a bit of looking around to find them. I highly recommend buying the various treasure maps from the merchant for your first few times through the game until you memorize their locations.
Enemies do not throw their weapons at you if they are outside your field of vision (such as if you're looking away from them).
Yes, the shotgun is amazing for groups but so is the rifle in certain situations. Rifle bullets penetrate multiple targets so if you manage to properly line them up you can headshot or at least damage multiple enemies with one bullet. Magnums also have this property when you find them later in the game.
Very important note for upgrading weapons. Buying a capacity upgrade fills the clip, so free bullets. So if you know you are going to buy that upgrade then resist your gamer urge to reload your weapon and go back to the merchant with it empty (or nearly empty at least). This is useful for all weapons of course but especially for things you don't get much ammo for, like magnums.
Every time enemies open the door, just shoot them using a shotgun, the door will close and repeat until the cutscene starts. You can use the handgun to stun enemies shooting in the head and kick them back.
At least for me, in professional mode works too.
I remember when I play this game for first time and was a pain this part.
