This does not work with the current HD Project released recently. It crashes the game. I am currently re-downloading everything since the .bat file included in the darksamuss mod broke my game
The same goes for almost any mods out there.
A couple of users have made parts of DarkSamus’ Button prompts mod compatible with the 1.0 release of the HD Project while he works on making the entire mod compatible in the meantime. This one by user ‘Bingo’ is for PlayStation controller users in particular.
1. Download the PlayStation buttons (either for the 'original/default' or 'PS2 layout) here: https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/post/142012
2. Paste the included files into the "Resident Evil 4" folder
3.Run the included "Install Buttons.bat" file and wait for it to do its thing.
4.Play the game and enjoy with PlayStation button prompts!
Thank you I'll try this out

It's worth noting that this mod was made for the 1.0 release. If you have the 1.1 release of the HD Project installed, it may not be compatible. From all accounts and testing myself this update by Bingo still works fine, but the XBOX ONE[www.nexusmods.com] and PS4[www.nexusmods.com] button prompts mod by NEGAARMAX must be be updated for the 1.1 release.
It worked like a charm. Thanks for demonstrating exactly where to install it. I wasn't expecting RE 4 to have over-the-shoulder tank controls. I thought it would be a traditional third-person shooter. Still gonna finish it before the remake comes out, but it'll take some getting used to after having only played RE 2 Remake and RE 3 Remake so far.
