If you struggle with the quick-time events (I believe this is due to a porting issue regarding frames per second), PCGamingWiki[pcgamingwiki.com] recommends some fixes.
EDIT:
Another note about KB+M is that the inventory menus are keyboard only, but it's not annoying particularly. The map has mouse and mousewheel support (for zooming) which is useful.

First time I played RE4 was on GC with that chainsaw controller, and it was great. Played it again on PC with Mouse and Keyboard and it was great.
I just beat it with an arcade stick...so... I think you can use whatever you want man, it's gonna be good.
