no Mercenaries, Professional Mode, or Extras on Resident Evil 4 -UHD (Steam)
So after completing the ResdientEvil 4 UHD (steam) game on 'Normal' I was hoping to unlock the 'Mercenaries' mode and other features that I have seen other players accessing in videos online. After completing the game, none of these features became available.

Also, one of these features I don't seem to have is the 'professional' mode.. it seems that in my game only 'easy' and 'normal' are the only modes that I can access.

Thinking that these limitations might be because of how I saved my games, I went online and downloaded a perfect save file (everything unlocked), which is supposed to unlock Mercenaries a bunch of other features, however even with this new save file install I cannot access Mercenaries or even see "Extras' like I do in other installations.

I'm wondering now if there is some sort of restriction on the game I purchased? I read somewhere if you ended up with a German copy players were not able to access all the features, including Assignment Ada and Mercenaries. I bought my copy from Canada, so I'm not sure if I could have ended up with a restricted version of the game?

Not sure. I would contact Steam about that and inquire as to what version you might have.

Go here https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/ and see if there is any additional information attributed to the RE4 licence. It's also possible that the save file you downloaded for your version may have been restricted for certain reasons.

thanks for the responses. I have contacted Steam about the issue and am waiting for response. I also went to that link above and all it shows for my RE4 installation is:

Item:Resident Evil 4 (ROW)
Aquisision Method: Steam Store

Steam says it has no responsibility to look into this and differed me to Capcom. Its a shame that they would take my money, but not even look into the matter. It's like as though they don't even know what they are selling. I will probably not buy another game from them unless the matter is resolved with them at least acknowledging that they are selling restricted content without alerting customers beforehand.

That's odd. I thought I read another post on here before about someone having the same kind of issue where they apparently had a wrong version of the game and Steam swapped it for them. Well hopefully you can get some help from Capcom then.

steam is the selling platform, but when it comes to many things it falls unto dev/publishers.
where exactly did you buy it from? was it a key if it was the staff person may have been thinking you got it via an unsavory route maybe.
but also remember there is multiple support staff, so expect differing responses.
if you bought it via unoffical seller, stuff like that happens very easily as wrong vers.
since you never know which your getting.

not sure what capcom will say honestly, which that also goes by who you get connected too as in staff wise.

also you refer u bought ur copy from canada, what do you mean by that.

i should also mention, if you bought it via steam, or an offical seller ur chance is raised with help via steam, as they can probally tell what keys were bundled and such.
but yeah best support chance tends to be with direct buys thru steam.

Thank you for your responses. I bought the game from the Steam store directly, being a resident of Canada. After considering my options of getting help after Steam staff were clearly incomepetent & unwilling to research the issue on my behalf, I reached out to Capcom, who said the version I should have is "Resident Evil 4 WW Digital Distribution" instead of the ROW version that I bought from Steam. Capcom is now saying I have to go ask Steam for help! What a bunch of BS..

Neither company's staff is willing to even acknowledge there is a version issue, or even able to shed light on which different versions there are out there. I cant understand why both companies are passing the buck here. What terrible consumer practices on both their parts.

I think it comes down to who you talk to, and so far I am dealing with two lazy or incompetent employees on both sides of the fence refusing to help. I don't know what to do here.

That's exactly what I figured, it's Steam's problem and they're the only one that can sort it out. They're the distributor and they gave you a wrong version which isn't really something that Capcom can do anything about. I'm not sure what you told Steam when you first contacted them but you need to contact them again and flat out tell them what the problem is and that Capcom said they need to exchange your copy. I live in Canada as well and I don't have a restricted version of the game. They need to exchange it for you.

recontact steam, tell them what capcom said, that should get things sorted out.
and if not, sadly to say just keep trying till you hit someone who will help.
but make sure you explain things fully as that will make things go more smoothly.

Thanks for both your feedback... it gives me hope I'm not going to get ripped off. I have contacted Steam staff again, and am waiting for a response. I told them the whole story.

So hey Fenixx what version are you running?

I'm not sure how to check that. But that "WW" version sounds familiar. I got mine through Humble Bundle when they had it sometime last year.

WW Digital/Retail is the global unrestricted key type for this game. ROW Digital which the OP has is a restricted version of the game despite not being restricted in his region.

Save files from the internet don't work. Most of them are from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft port released 12 years ago. Even the ones meant for the re-release don't work and are auto-deleted when the game tries to load them.

It's almost like Steam is a marketplace or something.

Yes most saves floating around out there are old, but there are newer ones that you can load with some knowledge of how to edit the files.

You gotta beat the game...
Validate game files by right clicking it in library.
Then beat the game.
