Tips on Regenerators?

I'm about to face 2-3 Regerators. Having heard all sorts of horrific things about them, I'm a bit anxious lol.

I have a maxed out semi-auto rifle, and will be getting the infrared scope, too. My question is

1) Do I encounter the 1st Regenerator before or after getting the scope? I think it's before? If so, how do I kill it? Apparently I shouldn't shoot its legs as it would collapse but suddenly leap towards me to attack. Should I just blast it with semi-auto rifle or BB?

2) Once I obtain the scope, will I be able to see-----in infrared vision----the heat signature of the las plaga inside the monster's body? Then shoot these little parasites first?

1) Yes. I believe you encounter at least 2 Regenerators before you get the infrared scope. Your best bet is to just run past them at that point as killing them isn’t mandatory. If you want the money they drop, you can go back and kill them after you've got the scope. You're going to end up using a lot of ammo otherwise.

2) Yes, and yes. Once you've shot all the parasites the Regenerators upper body will pop like a . If you find that you’ve shot all the parasites but the Regenerator is still coming at you, there's probably one last parasite on its back. I believe this extra parasite only applies if you're playing on professional difficulty, but just in case, one way to get at it is to shoot out the Regenerators legs then shoot the parasite while it's on the ground.

I did exactly that last night, ran passed the first two Regenerators, got the scope, popped all 3 in 3-4 rifle shots, then handled the soon-after Iron Maiden in the same fashion, except this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ needed 1 more shot as it had a parasite on its back.

I feel like these not-even-mini-bosses are more intimidating than one actual boss, namely Salazar + right hand + queen (?). I literally killed that thing with 2 shots: 1 BB to the right hand's big yellow eye, 1 rocket to Salazar. Underwhelming.

Yeah, apparently it takes 80+ slashes to kill one with a knife. I'll just trade that for 3 rifle shots instead.

I found gernades and blowing them up worked well
