I say this game would be a hit for parties as well where you can put all adult male into competition real quick haha.
Anyway, to each their own, and Im not sure how many slopes are offered in the base game but keep in mind that this game is about competition and making "best score/time". So one slope can be played over and over, trying to achieve perfect timing.
You can also discover all kinds of secret routes, not only that, after you unlock better gear, you can discover new routes impossible to do previously, for exemple, in their previous title, some bicycles could not whitstand high jumps so you could not use certain routes.
What I enjoyed a lot from the previous title was to fall down cliffs, at any moments and try to discover new routes that way. Trying to put my bike on a slim slim edge, and slowly making my way down the mountain that way.
There is a lot of replayability on each mountains.
Now Iv only done a single slope in this game so far but from what Iv seen, this game looks identitical in that concept.
i hear you and if i were into that, i'd probably get it. but im more the kind of player that runs through a level once and considers it done. i get no joy of achievement/time/score hunting. thus its just not worth the asking price for me. i'll get it once its a bit cheaper to justify the time i'll spend playing it.
At 24 slopes it is very steep, if you never ride any of them more than once.
But the game is very much designed for multiple runs, even without hunting for best times.
Be it for exploration, different routes (the slopes aren't linear), different skis, challenges, unlocks, resting spots, multiplayer, etc
Thank you for commenting, I had totally misunderstood the amount of content available. Downhill featured four mountains with four trails each so I thought the "only two slopes each mountain" was a bit stingy, but what I was looking at was only one out of three mountains....
The performance seems a bit worse but it's not bad, with the post-launch support downhills got and the inclusion of multiplayer the pricing feels fine to me tbh.
The game has fewer trails than Downhill had (on release) iirc, 3 mountains with 4 trails vs 4 mountains with 4 trails.
I don't personally think it's too expensive but it's 25%~ more expensive with 25%~ less content so it isn't hard to see people thinking that way. Multiplayer is cool but not something everyone will get value from.
And I feel the flying, ice, water and trick mechanics do a lot to elevate this above downhill.
Agreed, the slopes are a smart addition! While nice I do feel that they're basically alternate routes, which exist in downhill as well, they're just not structured in the same way with their own checkpoints.
Only actual complaint I have is the performance. I have less than half FPS in this game compared to downhill, but it's by no means unplayable just a larger difference than I would like.
