Agreed
I've only skied a little bit in real life but being able to see what's in front of you is, I can confidently say, a necessity.
Other than that it's a nice little game, hopefully it changes before release.
I don't think so. That's there cup of tea - look at "LM Downhill". It's (a big) part of the challenge and I think, the game wouldn't work (like intended) without it. Maybe it would be an option, to get this in the freeride mode, to learn the route - but in challange-mode, I don't think so.
The game is not intended to be a high-speed-game from the start. It is more like a challenging cozy-game (my perception - sounds weird, but I can't explain it better) .
For those curious, the previous game has a camera mod for first/third person views. It works, but the mountains are very clearly not designed for it. (sure you see what's ahead of you/don't get blocked by the occasional tree/have to steer blind behind them - but at the same time you also don't have the overview to spot shortcuts near you or what comes behind a drop and several view directions don't have any graphics to begin with)
Well, that's a shame - learning a course by trial and error and having to memorise where the obstacles are seems so weird to me that I didn't even consider it could have been designed that way! The demo seemed to me to be set up to reward skillful (go fast, don't crash) runs and I don't really see how knowing where the trees and cliffs are would spoil that. Oh well, not my thing then. :)
Honestly I find this approach more rewarding since it's not just about reflexes.
Perhaps the developers will consider this.

Personally I feel like this perspective would make the game trivially easy and just doesn't look great at all. I know OP is still talking about a follow-cam, I just think this is an example that doesn't clearly jive with the devs original vision for the game.
yeah that mod is definitely not for me. personally I like it the way the devs intended. just my 2c.
