Impossible jump?
Look, I might be ♥♥♥♥♥ at the game, but Im on Weinender Wald Black slope... and how the frick are you supposed to make that jump!? It's just after a checkpoint and I can't go any other route... every other direction is death, and I can only make it about 2/3rds of the way across the gap. So... how is it possible? Do I just restart and skip that whole section? Do I have to level up or something?

NEVER MIND. I'm an idiot. I'd been racing without ever really jumping... forgot the tutorial showing that it was TONY HAWK's jumping. Done it now. XD

Happy that you got it! :D We are probably going to make it a bit easier in the future :)

Can you explain how to actually jump on controller?

The trick here is releasing the right trigger in the air to glide further. (after gaining speed holding that trigger and A)

I haven't been playing as if there's a jump button. You can hold A to crouch low to gain a lot of speed at the cost of your ability to turn sharply. Then just run off the jump. If you're holding R2 when you do, you might crash because that brings you back down to earth. But if the trigger button is released, you'll go farther.

Note that some of these jumps are *really* hard and take a lot of practice to do even semi-consistently.

I had the same problem, i just forgot you jump higher when you release acceleration controls.

I just had this same problem. I tried holding down R2 in the air because I thought the tutorial told me that makes a long jump. But it didn't work. I didn't think of using crouch, if that was the answer. I found this really discouraged me from playing very early in the demo, and I turned it off. I played Lonely Mountains Downhill on PS for many months.

It's fine, it takes a little getting used-to but it's totally do-able. I was wildly frustrated at the jump and took days to not be mad at it. Line up the run from most of the way down that decline just after the time gate, make sure you go down the hill holding down RT and A most of the way and then let go of both once your flight begins. You got this.

Yeah, the hard part with this jump is lining it up. The method above means I clear the distance no problem… I just might crash into a rock a few times on landing. :p
