No 16:9? Lame port considering even PCSX2 can run this old game without black bars using a simple widescreen patch. There goes my will to buy both Obscure games...

Proper 16:9 is the very least i'd expect from a rerelease of a low-key 7 year old game. Disgusting cheap cashgrab antics are cheap and disgusting. May you go broke, dear developers.

I posted this in the Obscure 1 forum "Found a possible solution @ http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15075 but don't have the games yet to test it." I'd really like someone to try this who already owns the game before I make a move on them.

You could you know, just not buy the game.

No need to be a rude jerk about it. wishing ill will on people just because a game they re-released lacks a feature you want? Grow up.

This is the one thing holding me back from buying Obscure 2 on steam. I have the 1st game, and I'm ok with 4:3 on Obscure 1 - simply because it wasn't the standard yet when the game was made/released the originally. When that's the case with old games I don't mind the black bars.

No 16:9 on Obscure 2 on the other hand, isn't acceptable. If the Wii could run Obscure 2 in widescreen (I have it on Wii) then there is no excuse for the steam version to not support it.

Hope this gets fixed. I'd buy it then.

I think its because they literally did nothing to update the game other then add some ingame options, minimal efford just to get it on steam and milk it

This does not work as there is no Playlogic folder, I even went to the steam in registry and there was no resolution to edit

The registry address is actually
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MRS\Obscure2
You can't remove the black borders from there, only change the resolution.

At least this is an originally 4:3 game that supports 4:3 display aspect ratios and resolutions.
Unlike RE HD REmaster which it's yet again an originally 4:3 game but it does not support any display aspect ratio other than 16:9... and despite the same relative visuals (6th gen consoles time frame) RE HD runs like sh*t even on 2~3 times more powerful hardware than even recommended specs and doesn't even feature Controller button remapping feature... So, Obscure I & II are both decent ports by comparison... much better in my opinion...

I have created a guide to setup a widescreen view for this. It's a stretched view but doesn't look too bad. (screenshot included in guide) Link

This made me not want to buy the game. I'm afraid those females on screenshots is not enough.

As of this time, with the discount, I think that it worth 5,09€ for both games. You should try them.

If your computer can handle it. Just force 1920 x 1440 and ignore aspect ratio through your graphics card settings. (If your native resolution is 1080p.) It looks good enough to me with that.

You mean cut the top and bottom of the image... ? Like rendering off-screen ?
I don't know how you could do that through the Control Panel...
But if you know how, I'm definitely curious about how to do it.

Just add a custom resolution of 1920 x 1440. Then change your graphics card setting to full screen instead of by aspect ratio. Finally, you go into the game and select 1920 x 1440 as a resolution. It'll show the full resolution but it will look better than say using 1440 x 1080. It's what I use to fill up the whole screen.

Edit: Rendering off-screen imo is not worth it. Might as well just play in 4:3. Still would like to be able to have that half-assed widescreen the old versions had, though.

So you were saying about stretching the image. I know how to do that. I thought you've found a way to make it like that "half *****" widescreen in the old retail version... through Nvidia's CPL...
I guess I'll stick with 4:3 and the black bars. I'm all for consistency more than anything. I don't care very much to fill the screen. Although, I hate when devs do lazy ports and don't code proper aspect ratio or controls or whatever else...
