; and ' not working on a azerty keyboard
Like the title says, I'm french and use a azerty keyboard. The ; in the command line does nothing when I press it, and the ' in the schematic view does not work either.

Are there any other keys that are used for input that don't work on your non-English keyboard? I'm not talking about for general text or drone movement (not talking about supporting full keyboard remapping in that update!), but keys that you've had to find alternates for in order to be able to use certain core functionaility of the game?

Thanks for all of your patience on this!
Not on QWERTZ. On the "alias" window, ; . ' works normal. Just on the cmd, i have to use ÜÖÄ for these keys (y and z are also normal (other crap "indi"-games have Y&Z problems on german keyboard layout)).

Thanks! Yeah, the way input is handled for special characters is different in the command line vs. a free-entry input form like the alias editor.

You mentioned the period (.) doesn't work on the command line. I can't think of when a '.' is needed on the command line...?

Hey guys - just a heads up that v26 (currently only in the "future" branch) has the keyboard mapping for semi-colin (;) and apostrophe ('). This only applies to those two characters when used in the command-line. I'd love to hear whether or not you are able to map your non-English keyboards to get those keys to work!

See v26 for all that's been added in this version, and the updated known issues thread for more about how to map the keys in the Unity Launcher.

On the Unity Launcher, i cant bind ";" and '"" because, i need to press SHIFT for ; and ' and the launcher take only the shift. if i use the keys without shift, ; and ' are lost. I cant play the game anymore :/ (QWERTZ german layout).

I see what you are saying, but can you just do it without the SHIFT? Looking at your keyboard layout, looks like it would be comma (,) and pound (#) instead of semi-colon (;) and apostrophe ('). So yes you know "," isn't ";", but at least it's the same key...

Or does that not work, either?

Unfortunately that mapping is a Unity thing (no config file that we control). I'm really confused because any key I use works. Wish I knew what was going on on your keyboard. The fact you can see it in the editor should mean using that same key in game will work. I'm afraid I'm at a loss.

I think at this point, you only have two unfun solutions to solve this. You can go back to the build "main" branch. Alternatively, if you want to stay on the "future" one, you can also backup you data, reinstall, then put back the data (which will keep your progress). Sorry - I don't know a smoother way to get you back to what you had.

Except - what key did you use before the mapping was exposed? Can that key not be mapped ? :)

Sorry about this - I had hoped this would give you something to use until we have time to work specifically on this issue. I guess I'd say this is a warning to anyone else who may try this as well...

Ok sorry, my mistake. In some case, your console blocking ; . i dont try it on a valid command. Binding the , and # key works. , for ; and # for toggle icons. But toggle the icons also write "#" in the console. Maybe you can change this.

Ok, goood...whew. You had me worried :)

Interesting point about the icon toggle showing up in the command line. I'll look into that.. .
Hey,

Remapping is working fine with a french keyboard.

For those who might not want to install future branch update, I found that the key for semicolon is SHIFT + $ ($ alone inserts both the $ and ;). So that's actually £.

Hope this helps.

Thx City Hunter. We're hoping to push this to the default branch soon. Just making sure all the 100+ other changes are stable ;)
Apparently, I'm unable to rebind the 1,2,3,4 keys to select drone in the Unity configurator. It always gives me a blank character for some reason. (Linux)

It's really annoying in a game where you have to TYPE commands that the keys don't map to the desired character. Changing to UK keyboard in order to be able to select the drones is one (very annoying) thing but not being able to type the character efficiently is just a deal breaker for me.

Running fine on Linux (although the game is surprisingly very demanding on ressources).

Sorry about that. This is a pretty old thread, but I believe most AZERTY folks these days map drones to their function keys (F1-F4). Mapping is a Unity thing and, unfortunately it doesn't like all keyboards. What you see as a number, it sees as something else (or you require a second key like a modifier to access the number, and that utility doesn't handle modifiers well at all).

Sorry about the frustration :) I'm thinking off the top of my head on the solution (function keys), but check out the forums for more recent posts if that doesn't work.

Thanks!
You can edit the alias file by opening it *outside* of the game. It's located in C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\My Games\Duskers\alias.txt
The game reloads the file each time you type "alias", so this seems like an ok workaround...
In ANBT2 keyboards, while in game, the ' is ~, and ' is acting like the space bar (but the SB works normally).
