Except, uh, apparently I did it to the wrong thing? Nothing happened :(
I guess it has to be a specific a MUTEKI vessel? I did a MUTEKI C, because, well, yeah, seemed the most realistic, but the objective didn't update
Check your logs (singularity)
Existential crisis identified!
...Just two objective lines left! I'ma coming for your algorithms, doc!
Stats for nerds: http://imgur.com/a/NFFg7 (I had played a small amount pre-1.0, whiped when it shipped)
Praise:
*Though the gameplay itslef has many simple design elements (only a few enemy types, for example), the incredible atmosphere (graphics + sound design), and variety of gameplay styles make for excellent replayability. That and the plot. I *really* like the plot.
*Gameplay starts off terrifying. Squad whipes were common. Once I started to learn the mechanics, however, things became managable, and I was even able to recover from 4-drone whipes (I, uh, vented a room with a power conduit, the conduit broke, and it was, uh, the only way back to the ship. Oops! See ya later lil buddies).
*Even after I got into the swing of things, there were still moments of panic wait, what, sneaky green buddies attacking! nabi r1! nabir1!
*The Eternal Darkness-esque effects (especially SIGNAL LOST work perfectly, and also caused plenty of terrifying moments!
*The storyline challenges are pretty interesting and unique, and change things up at the point when things start to get a little reptitive.
Criticism:
*A few bugs
--You, and enemies, can shoot through doors if they're close enough (but you already knew that one).
--Previewing galaxies is a bit buggy; previewing a different galaxy while you're in a location with a stargate will teleport you to said star gate. I, uh, may have abused this a coulpe times to save on jump fuel :x
---Also, sometimes its impossible to select individual galaxies when previewing, with duplicate selection-letters being assigned to them.
---Finally, I'm not sure if this is a bug or just me not searching hard enough, but I can't find Whirlpool: Dues Cares System, Omegas Jammus. The galaxy just... Doesn't exist? I've been through every stargate, and have even long-distance scanner'd every gaalxy... Nothing.
*The gameplay does get stale before the storyline completes. That baby covers a lot of ground, and now that I'm all suited up, I've been finding myself jumping into derlicts, hunting down the fuel tanks, and getting out. That said, the previously-mentioned bug hasn't, uh, helped. I've spent quite a bit of time looking for that dang galaxy!
*Certain modules are far, far more useful than others. I'm looking at you, Remote Power. I mean, cannon is fun for taking out little green buddies, and reroute power... Exists (maybe I'm not making good enough use of it). But I always go back to da RP, at the end of the day.
*Turrets feel a bit powerful. For the MUTEKI quest, that was a good thing, but otherwise, they handle about half the threats incredibly efficiently. Leapers should go through shields, and dodge fire (be invulnerable) upon initial leap >:].
Oh yes, and
Bumpy space dog buddy spooked me good the first time I ran into it
Horrors are a lot more... Horrifying when they're faceless. Being able to sort of, walk up to them or have them awkardly bump against you sorta kills the mood.
