Vents [SPOILERS]
How exactly do the swarms interact with the vents? Will brand new swarms spawn from a vent? Does a swarm have to enter a vent to come out from a different one? Can a swarm get into the vents from anywhere or do they have to enter an actual vent? Can swarms enter vents and stay in them for some period of time and hence not be detectable or is travel instantaneous?

As a side note what triggers a swarm starting to attack a door? Is it random or when they somehow detect drones around?

I think swarms can enter from anywhere and get out of the instantly. Attacking doors seems to happen after any interaction (open door of its room) or if they get bored :D

Well, it happends that if you're in a ship with swarms and vents aboard, and you can commandeer it (You killed the ennemies), swarms can stil spawn from theses, hence stoping you from commandering the ship. And I think they can come in infinitely. I had a game where 2 swarms had come from them. But I think they take more time to come as they spawn.

Yes there is an event where the swarms attack the doors. It says "Door xx is being attacked!",but don't worry, you have a very long time before they break in, so you can save your drones or even put an strategy to wade them out, if you have the weapons.

However the door they're attacking can broke and will stay open, not usable again. You can actually open the door they're attacking and it will not broke, however they will enter the room.

If that happend, you can sometimes open a door in their room while they're attacking another one, and they will stop fighting, to wander into the opened adjacent room. But sometimes it takes longer than needed and you still have to escape or move backward.

Maybe I was going a bit too far with this one, but if I helped you then i'm happy ^^

Up to two swarms can spawn from each vent, but additional swarms can enter any vent and occupy it before reemerging.

Obvious question - can we somehow block vents?

No

Can anything be done against them? Is it confirmed only 2 swarms spawn from single vent? What if i leave a turret or mines there to intercept those 2 - will they stop coming after that?

The devs confirmed that two swarms can spawn from a vent a while back, before full release. If you leave a wine or something there for them, they will indeed stop spawning after two swarms have spawned.

Okay, thanks!

The safe thing to do is keep the room closed until you know there are no swarms onboard by finding all the infections types.

Leaving a turret is probably not the best idea unless you really have to stay in the room for some reason, swarms will still hit you with a turret, and you may or may not have your turret facing the right direction when they spawn.

Mines are generally better for swarms than turrets.

Aren't they spawning directly on the vent?

Glad I found this, just raided my 5th ship after using stealth to maneuver around some of the infested to only find a vent in a room I thought was secure, just seeing it made me panic, stealth again, and re-locate my ship the the closest airlock to evacuate (Since it was the last room anyways)
