Question about Copper Ore
So after a few glitched game or getting really lost and having to abandon the world; I manage to find a good world.

I am running into a strange problem or more accurate scarity of copper ores.

I have found so far two HUGE cavern below ground. I have not yet explore much.

The interesting about first cavern is the apex of the roof created a hole in the ground right NEXT to a massive coal deposit (I have 3 coal vein on the surface near Hub/starting position). I decide to tunnel on the side up to surface to make travel in and out easier. On the bottom of this cavern I found Iron Ore and happily by accident found a Tin Ore while making the tunnel.

In the second cavern I found EVEN more coal deposit.... I have not gone to the bottom yet and found a crystal.

To recap so far I have access to tin, plenty of coal, and iron. But no copper yet so I can't craft more extractor or laser transmitter and anything else that use copper.

Knowing that you don't have access to copper how do you deal with that?

scan for unknown

if you have reasurched the others it should be the only thing that shows up. if you have not reasurched and find a lone block post back if it ends up being a crystal.

if you find a reasonable size vein of an ore first starting out 100k+ make sure you can find it again and then reasurch that ore. once reasurched it will remove it from the unknown ping. if you have every thing scanned and known around you any unknown would end up being what you are looking for or if you went deeper a new material to catalog. copper can be found on the surface so you shouldent have issues with it.

Yes I already did all of that. I pinged at the first cavern bottom all current "unknown" stuff show up as singlar block. So I had to venture far to just find something.

Heck I was hoping the iron ore that I found at the bottom of the first cavern was copper but nope.

Well good news and bad news.

Turn out I already had it researched but don't recall where I scanned copper ore in the first place?

So I decide to look at known ore to see if it was already researched and found a very TINY copper vein not far from base.

I guess I will start with that and work from that.

I think I will keep looking for more copper veins.
cant help cuz im gettin lotz

If you're in the beta, you can use a Specific Ore Ping to find more ore of the type you want.

Can't tell if you are being rude or sarcasm....

This is not beta version. Still learning stuff and jumping into beta is probability not a good idea right now.

That aside I look forward to see changes once it goes live.

I do have to agree my current world has considerably less copper ore deposits than previous worlds. Almost as rare as lithium
Tin and Iron on the other hand I have lots of that.

I would say general size is lowered of the deposits. crystals do show unkown till reasurched as well btw.

Yeah I have a similar problem with copper atm. I have tons of Lithium and other ores but copper is being illusive for some reason. I will be hunting that stuff again later today. I'm going to try the copper ore ping in beta for it to get it going again.

heh right now I found about 20 20k or less iron deposits and a 40k maybe li deposit so i know wht you mean.... next to the li i found a 1.7m and 700k copper deposit... its all in the rng...

Apparently the second large cavern I found?

There was MORE copper down there than the surface from first look.

But the problem is the cavern is freaking HUGE and navigating back down and up may be a nightmare.

yes it tends to be most worlds that gen for me tend to have MASSIVE twisting caverns DJ said to use torches judiciously. if the marker system stays permenent between reloads that would be the best way to handle it imho. I have also left a battery/hopper/drill behind as a marker as well which if you can kinda get close the hollo base lets you find it again. I also find a central point to drill to the surface from and then always tunnel to that central piller where possible. put torches at the end of your halls and they can be fund reasonably easily that way. you can also leave a convayer behind every so often as well. put a hopper down with 1 coal or something then attach a convayer away from it when it picks the coal up it goes read so it is easier to see in hollo.

Currently I only went into about 5-6 "chambers" and it may be even bigger than that. I already spot about unique 6-7 veins in the first 3 chambers alone. Also It seem to goes in a spiral in several directions. I don't think a central tunnel approach is doable given that it has about 3 paths. One goes pretty far down enough to see green crystal and another goes off in a horizontal south direction. I have not touched the second one But from what I can tell it may lead to more on the opposite side from the entrance where I found it.

yup it can be a pain to do by hand but I often go 200-400 blocks from the central shaft depending on where i find the ore i need. my other world went down -300 to start my ni ti and gold mines. found gold near where i had gone down ni was 300 blocks south and ti about 80 west. branched a tunnel straight for each and then once i got the 2 that i needed flowing from 100k+ deposits I then went back in my tunnels and scanned for all ores and picked up 8 different veins on the way back of gold copper and li. it is also not unusual for me to start a shaft at one point and end up near the cold zone chasing a huge li vein a ways away then send a 2nd shaft to the surface when i find all the rest of the things i was after from there down....

To help me navagate the caverns I started using all of the extra hewn rock and deep rock to use. What I did was used it as a path in the air by connecting it to a wall and make it go in the same direction I am. While I do this I also put the tourches on it so it lights they way from above me. I'll come back and add a screenshot of what I am talking about after I post this. I turned the first cavern I came to into a base where all of my resources come back to it though I still have a lot of work to do to make it the way I want.

Though I have found some rather bountiful deposits of Lithium near my first cavern it was at 2.2 million ore. Along with several other ores that I need ranging from 40k all the way to 700k or more.
