Fall damage...
Does anyone know the current maximum you can fall before taking damage?

Also, I saw Hellmaster, on Youtube say if you fall on a lift platform you don't take damage, is this correct? or does the no damage still depend on the distance dropped?

Thanks.

You take fall damage if you drop deeper than 26 blocks.
Falling on to a lift still negates the fall damage.

Haven't counted it exact but you can fall somewhere about 25 - 28 blocks before you take damage.
I have drops of 32 with a 2 block landing pad that I randomly put in - but it would be close to the 25 block mark
Would be easy enouph to test and find out the exact number though.

Not sure how far you can go before it kills you but I've certainly gone 200 blocks with full 512 power. Leaves the screen fuzzy for a while though.

Yes landing on a lift cancels out fall damage.

Damage taken seems to cap somewhere around 100 blocks. No difference in damange taken from dropping 150 blocks vs dropping 500 blocks.

we may change that based on difficulty

So I could drop 500 blocks on to a lift and not take damage?

No, it certainly seems to increase the distance you can fall safely, but at some height you will still take damage. At a guess I'll say maybe 50 blocks rather than the normal 25, but frankly I haven't tested that properly as once I found infinite falling didn't work onto them it was easier for me to stick with my 25m ladder setup for descending than to add another arrangement based around lifts.

If you land on a lift, you dont get damage (you have to set it to "extended whilst resting" btw). Im very very very sure it works, bc thats how i get from 0 to -600 depth in one drop :>

Thanks Penguin...

So Dessi, extended on rest, means it's fully raised by default, when I land on it, it goes down?

It goes down, yes, but its not fully raised because the listposition resets if you leave the area. If you land on the lift, it currently starts to extend.

---Edit
After doing some tests, the settings of the lift dont appear to matter. I remember switching to the extending mode after getting damage on occasion but my memory does not seem to serve me right.

could be difference in version to dessi. the "dammage" you take is so many units of energy and blurry vision for a while. I have dropped 600 from surface to current depest mining depth and had 300+ energy afterwords. you tend to take more energy damage by falling several short distances vs 1 long jump. I have used an excivator to clear a tunnel to the surface and about every 20 blocks down or so i fill 1/2 a 4x4 corner with blocks to land on . I keep them on 1 half of the tunnel so the rest of it is clear of any obstructions. occasionally I will put a jem in the dead center to light up the area.

BASED ACCURATELY ON REAL LIFE!*

*do not attempt to fall 26 metres or more in real life.

*Doing so may result in death, maiming, uncontrollable drooling, and the inability to play FC:E anymore.

Ok I just tested briefly and threw myself down my main shaft a few times, each fall being at least 120m if not more, and on 3 out of 7 or 8 falls landing on a lift I took damage... So certainly not consistent either way, but consistent with what I recall from previous times and why I kept using my 25m fall ladder. The first time I landed on a not yet fully loaded/rendered lift so I thought it may have been a race condition, but after that everything at least appeared to have been fully loaded before I landed on it so that doesn't really explain it.

Doing this has also made me wonder once again, are lifts MEANT to be safe inifinifall landing pads, or is it just a convinient bug that will get fixed at some point anyway?

Also another side note, opening the crafting menu was riding a lift causes the camera position to become stuck, once you close the menu it snaps back to wherever you should be on the lift.

Same with chatting while grappling...you freeze, and when you finish chatting, you FLY UP lol...it's funny. I'd say the falling on lift is a bug as well.
