I usually get copper and coal near starting base, tin at around -20, iron -60, lithium -150, crystal -200 to -300, nickel, titanium and gold -300 and biomass -400 to -500. I usually dig to those levels before I use the scanner

In a previous game, I saw all mineral types below -500: Not just titanium, nickel, and gold; but also copper, tin, iron, and lithium.

In my current game, the only "deep" minerals are the t2 ones. Is that change intentional? It would be great if the in-game reference section included depth information on each ore.

My comment was a rough idea of the depth where different ores start, after that they randomly appear at all depths, I once dug to 3000, but didn't see any ore at all at that depth, my last game I struggled to find lithium at any depth only a couple of bodies with a few thousand ore It had vast caverns full of tin and iron and nickel from -60 down to -600(the nickel started close to 300)...all the one massive snaking cavern, but the lack of lithium caused me to start another game. It's just random. Of course it would help if you could scan for the one particular ore you need

Gosh no. You don't have that sort of information at a player level!

Copper is -5 to -850
Tin is -5 to -850
Iron is -65 to -850
Lithium is -160 to -850
Gold is -300 to -1500
Titanium is -300 to -1500
Nickel is 300 to -1500

As I wrote, -200 to -300, where the chilled rock is

storm also be aware per a previous post related to this dj reminded us if you go below 1500 when they add new content that spawns below 1500 you wont get it. you would have to start a new world to get the additional content.

I presume you mean -300 not 300 for Nickel

you can, with the one time use pings and also once you get the suit battery upgrade (i think thats the trigger at least) you can scan for colored ores. lithium is teal, iron red, copper green, tin blue, coal purple ect.

Yup that colored ore ping is INCREADIBLY useful beyond comprehention. Rushing to get that battery pack upgrade is quite important. As then you can just rush down and find the other types of ore, scan them, reserch them and still find the good veins with the colored ping. So once your main mining shaft makes it to those levels, you have the colored pings to locate the good veins near the main shaft.
