Why do my torches stop emitting light? (answered)
It seems to be happening during the day. The torches don't emit lgiht but they still produce heat. I find this quite annoying because it just feels 'wrong', like it's a bug or something broken. Is it? Can it be fixed? ... Or if it's not a bug and is some intended thing can I mod the game to make the torches emit light 24/7?

during the day torches automaticly stop emmiting light during the day unless they are a certain distance below ground. Afterall you wouldn't turn a light on outside in broad day light would you.

They used to do this, but it caused extreme blooming. Unlike real life, lights in games are kinda in the same range, so a torchlight is as bright as the sun. This was the solution I settled upon.

Is this 'broad daylight' to you?

I wish the paint gun would allow me to set color lighting though

Well, technically yes; you're at 0 metres depth. I assume it's bright outside, but you're indoors, in the shadow, is that correct? I agree it looks weird.

I'd consider changing it so that lights that are 'indoors' are brighter, but I can't imagine how a light can actually tell if it's outside or not.

You can always use the electric lights, too!

can't we make it so that as soon as the 'dark area' applies to the player, the day-limitation on lights is disabled?

But also adding more than one in a small area increases their brightness.

I really wasn't thinking about brightness. I kinda thought about minecraft, I had torches everywhere.

I'll fix up my base and see if that helps.
