What do you find tedious about space engineers? I've actually been getting into it more myself lately since I've put a crazy amount of hours into this and needed a break.

Easier to get into than Minecraft? In may ways in is more complex in terms of the way the machines are used to accomplish everything. On the other hand the game offers much more detailed feedback on tools and includes a very handy help guide that has information on nearly every machine in the game. It includes a very helpful context sensitive feature so you can get just the information you need when you need it by pressing H.

It still takes some time to learn but most of what you need is right at your fingertips. There might still be some rough spots but the people here are helpful and quick to respond to most questions so you can often have an answer to anything unusual pretty quickly.

This streamer has a pretty nice world going on.

I watched a few minutes, its a good exhibition of the game. He's making pods and trying to get a lab powered. Several lifts installed. Lots of power trasfer going on. Mostly t1 stuff, lots of coal stuff still.

I have found it to be a bit tedious, and if you've played Minecraft you probably will find this to be a weaker version of it.

Weaker in what way?

In my opinion FC:E is stronger than Minecraft in many ways including everyway that I care. It has a more directed goal/purpose, better direction/instruction aspects to teach you how to play, a fun growth in complexity as you progress, and it is free of annoying game destroying design flaws that plague MC.
Its easy to get into like minecraft, somewhat complex like space engineers, but gives you more of a sense of progress than MC? I personally played MC with a handfull of the different tech mods though, so this is a welcome game for me. And as steveman said, it has in-game help. Wiki is nice, don't get me wrong, but having to alt tab can be a minor annoyance with slower machines.

Well, if it helps, I find both Minecraft and Space Engineers tedious, but I love Factorio and FortressCraft, and I like having machines do things for me.

I wonder when Factorio will be finally available on Steam. If it comes to automation I can recommend SpaceChem, tough I somehow can't get warm with the successor Infinifactory. For builder games that focus on vehicles instead of production and automation, I'd also name From the Depths. But as FtD also offers very nice AI controllers that could also be seen as automation to some degree. Minecraft without mods is actually crap, though it was a breakthrough for its time. MC with mods can also offer quite some production stuff but this usually is not as seamless and goodlooking as in FCE.
