Missiles from bug parts (pristine stingers)
I'm unclear how this is going to work out.

I spent one pristine stinger (or was it 4? I forget) on a cutter head way back when I first unlocked cutter heads, noticed how fast they are consumed, exclaimed out loud, "♥♥♥♥ that!", and have since put every single pristine stinger I've picked up after wasp waves into a storage crate.

After 130 hours and tens of thousands of wasp kills, I have a grand total of... drumroll please... 88 pristine stingers.

After the missile patch I logged in the game with a cache of over 900 basic missiles primed and ready to fire (and more being made). Within 30 minutes (three waves) they were ALL GONE. Since now they fire at heavies.

Now heavies are not bosses, but when I go over 10,000% threat, the missile fireing is on par with that (back when it was basics for bosses). So how is it even possible to manufacture 900 pristine stingers every 30 minutes?

I started setting up collection hoppers that would collect all the bug crud from the four corners, pipe them into the cold caverns, and convert them to recombined organic matter. Keeping in mind that it takes one full minute to turn 10 bug crud into one recombined (per combiner) and you need 8 recombined to manufacture one pristine stinger.

Problem #1: You cannot auto-manufacture pristine stingers, they are only available from the personal crafting UI.

Problem #2: There's not enough bug crud going down there to produce 900 stingers every 30 minutes.

Yeah, I'm really unsure what he's thinking with a lot of recent changes. They've shown that little to no thought has gone into the balance of it. I'm just waiting on the server to get to the point where these things actually get tested and the balance is realized to be off.

Of course you can. Only need 240 recombiners for 900 per 30mins

and for the low cost of only 15360 pps

Damn Cellfire! I didn't do the math. If I had, I wouldn't have bothered getting started on bug crud.

I've tried farming Mynocks in the past using a large slab of conveyors and some turrets, but they seemed to stop spawning shortly after building it. Maybe I've been too aggressive with the dynamite. There are no hives anywhere near my central hub.

I got attacked by the dev and his fan party after a stream as it seemed, for stating some thing like this but hey this guy was a minecraft modded.
So I geuss I have to except hes on edge all the time and hostle to any one that says he is going in a bad direction for this game.

Stated off great fast to mine and get stuff and cool ideas for base with defenses, but now he is making it had to just get stuff out of a box.

it is very possible to defend your base without the pristine & plasma missile

just managed to do it before when missiles only did 50k damage and cost 4x as much


I like to think of pristine & plasma missiles as a bonus and not something I need every single missile turrent shooting 24/7

But the basic missiles no longer target bosses. That would mean turret only on bosses.

oh you sure? thought they targeted both

forgot the new missile target heavies now too :(

You sure? 900 pristine stingers = 7200 recombine matter => 240 recombined matter / min so 2400 recombiners = 153600 pps or 337 turbines going full tilt.

Of course you don't really need that many stingers. Don't use basic missiles on heavies as they're a waste. Just make some armor piercing, 90 or so per 30 min to deal with bosses left over from mk3s.

I'm constructing 25 T4s to house 4 Mk3s and 2 Mk2s on each cardinals to deal with sustained 20k threat. I'll see if my math pans out.
