Noob question: Change default yellow lights to white?
Is there any way to change the default lights that appear blue, but put out a very bright yellow light into the world and makes everything look S h1t...into a white light instead?
Looks like it may be possible if I buy the DLC and use the paintgun, but this sort of feature should be built-in.
What makes it worse is that the daytime seems to last 5 minutes and the night 5000 years (slight exaggeration).
I haven't got electric lights yet, hoping they may put out a more realistic colour light.

You shouldn't purposefully avoid the censor. Could be considered rude.

And I doubt this is a feature that will be added as I'm sure incredibly few people have an issue with the yellow lights. I really don't care about it myself because what you do. Is get out the paint gun. And paint it. If you don't like the colour.

So no, I don't think this feature will be implemented. And even then it takes like half a second to switchtopaintgunpainttorchswitchback. :P

My advice is to avoid crowding area's close with torches and make your tunnels 4 or 5 blocks high so that the light diffuses more over the area it should help with the brightness.

See, spacing is everything.

So you know, everything looks ugly in a white color because irl we naturally don't see white, so the red tint is more along the lines of what are eyes are used to seeing. Also in keeping with realistic light, the "white" lights in the game look just as ugly as true white light bulbs :D.

Thanks for your tips, I'll give them a go. I was thinking more along the lines of white with a hint of yellow, like our own sun, looks more natural than pure yellow or pure white. I find Factorio and Minecraft lighting more pleasing to the eye than PURE yellow.

Sadly the electric lights color will hurt your eyes a bit >_> and there is no way to change the color :(

Thank heavens they aren't pure yellow then. Also, as indicated, you have the ability to colour them via the DLC. The reason that 'this sort of feature' isn't 'built-in' is as it makes no sense whatsoever to be able to paint lights; the Dapper DLC covers 4th-wall breaking features, such as this, and also includes pumpkins lights and snowmen lights.

you can always place the occasional crystal to server as a color variation

I have found that using a deep grey can give you a bit of a better white light.

buy the DLC 1. it supports an AWESOME game, and 2. the game is being undersold money wise. I think this should be sold for much more for the hours and hours over enjoyment, (i know it cant becuse then less people would buy, blah blah blah) so putting up a few extra bucks isnt bad, and if the torches bother you that much, $5 bucks isnt much for how much entertainment this game gives. Also it lets the amazing devs know people are liking the game, and will continue to develop it, inturn (hopefully) bring more people in.
