The only way to permanently get rid of a hivemind would be charged explosives. Once you blow up the core, the hive will stop growing and all its mynocks left on your conveyors will die as well (resin will decay at some point, but that's not added yet)
I thought long and hard about how to word my bug. It is 100% accurate. No hyperbole.
1. Mynocks die within seconds.
2. Destroyed hives still grow.
The one that's still growing now is probably about 30x30. Granted it's only grown about 2 blocks since it was de-cored, I have been staying out of the game because I don't want my whole world to be destroyed by Hives.
I am just running the normal release version. Is it better for me to run the dev version or bleeding-edge?
Can I sidestep these issues by only using transport pipes? I think I can afford it. It's probably what everyone will use if they absolutely don't want their world destroyed.
Destroyed hive stopped expanding, for the moment. Only grew 2 blocks total after Core destroyed.
Now I really am confused.
The code for this is quite simple;
1) Mynocks spawn
2) After 30s, the mynock steals items that goes past
3) If an item is stolen, then it sleeps for 5 seconds
4) For each item stolen, the hivemind can place 25 blocks.
Hiveminds start with 250 blocks (which is like... 6 metres across or something)
A 30 metre diameter, 15 metre radius hivemind is >14,000m3, which is 560 stolen items.
I always recommend Bleeding Edge, but there's been no changes to this code.
I'm still unsure how you're seeing this, other than user error on your part ;-)
Thanks for the quick response, again. No matter what the issue, your attentiveness to these forums is unprecedented. Happy new year.
I miss having a QA department. And an IT department. :-(
Ah but this way we get to talk to you directly and not thought some low tier dude who knows nothing about whats going on with the games devlopment.
To be fair, that dude would eventually learn the software, if he wasn't fired for non-performance, or drugs, or internet porn, or Submitting all bugs on Friday 4:55pm. QA turnover is pretty staggering.
IT could literally infect every computer with a virus, and still keep their job. (ref: The website is down[www.thewebsiteisdown.com])
Well, no, if it was killed, the entity no longer exists. All mynock steals should all go to the same hivemind, which is ALWAYS the one closest to your CPH. I'm stumped for any code issues, I'm afraid, and still am going to blame you for making a mistake in your base somewhere ;-)
You can always look for the growing red spheres on the holobase, indicating mynocks, too, tho that doesn't check the sleep/active stuff.
"Screenshots, or it didn't happen."
This is the correct approach to all bugs :>
