From what I can determine, those things spawn on the soft resin. So what I did was craft an explosive and blow up the resin. When you logout/login, it will despawn. I think there are plans to have turrets target them in the future.

I think I heard that you can't kill them right now but that they despawn after a period of time. No clue how long it takes before it despawns though.

use mk3 turents - has like 2m hp so may take a bit to kill

wouldnt call it a bug, but if you leave the game on for some hours (yeah, i play a lot) you get tons of worms in the same spot :
