Iron ore. Where is it?

Have searched and found nothing not a drop of iron to be had. What gives. Don't think the ping is much chop either.

Copper is -5 to -850
Tin is -5 to -850 (Looking at it, I wonder if that's a bug!)
Iron is -65 to 850
Lithium is -160 to -850
Gold is -300 to -1500
Titanium is -300 to -1500
Nickel is 300 to -1500

I think you're missing a minus on that Iron depth. :)

In one of my games I had to explore about 300m laterally, and 100m down to find iron, most of the others have had some much closer. It'll all in the luck of the random number generator.

Check you've not already researched iron by accident without realising it. May sound unlikely but I've seen it happen plenty of times. If you open the guide by pressing H check the materials listed. If it lists iron then you've already found it and cannot use the unknown ore ping to find it.

If you've not researched it then I'd recommend you explore across the surface of the world, periodically performing unknown pings and looking downwards to see if you see anything come up.

Yeah i researched it without realising. took me like 2days to realise. Having to start again now anyway so atleast ill know to check what i have researched

I noticed the list in the guide and iron wasmissing so that explained that. Thanks. Will keep trying.
Its just that the game can't progress without iron so its quite frustrating. I will provail eventually.

all the worlds i have created 75-85 was a garonteed iron deposit even if it wasnt under your base.....

that part is the pain. the first good world i got going I had a 250k coal deposit 4 squares from my hub. 1 vein of copper about 30 quares from the base... tin was about 60 away and 35 deep. next unkown came -85 with iron about 80 squares away from the base some pokets but mostly just straight digging to find the ping. A more tricky world I had 3 massive caverns open up to the surface about 30 blocks from the base and it was found in there but the path was so bizar i lost it 3 or 4 times. usually if you find a cavern you can find a vein in there.
