Why didnt anyone warn me about the CCCCC
Have built this thing because i thought its needed to proceed. Now i have cryoplasm coming for me and i have no way to defend and Surface attacks with 8000 threat because my calmers dont work anymore. What should i do now? its my first world and after around 100 hours i dont want to start over.

Well, we can address the issues; you're definitely not stuck, and there's no way to lose. You just have a more interesting fight. There was a massive hint to this in the research, but I guess it was too vague? The CryoPlasm is supposed to be a terrifying OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED moment for players, not something they expect.

If you haven't build any further T4 machines, the CryoPlasm will be quite slow - can I get some details? How long since you build the C5, how close did the CryoPlasm get, etc?

And how could I have warned you better, but not in a way that just gives it all away?

Also, C5 and 8,000% threat? I suspect you might have run before you walked. I REALLY recommend people clear down one before starting up the other (unless ofc you like to live dangerously ;-))

If you followed your missions of Charge the OET and Kill the Overminds before jumping to the C5 you wouldn't have this issue. . . The game knows best. . .

I built this thing a bit over 1 hour ago. the currently aimed cryo is 350m away. Didnt even start to mine Molybthing and the other ore. The warning you cant destroy the C5 is nice but something like "dangerous things could happen if you use this machine" would be a good warning and make you think twice if you really want to use it. i somehow didnt notice any informations about an extra enemy or the calmers not working anymore. In the description of the calmers is a information about them not working when the OET is active. maybe add the C5 to it too.

I have a backup before i powered the C5 for the first time. Will that have any use or am i alreaddy doomed because i built it?

the Game gave me the chance to proceed without doing that so i did it because i didnt know i should do the other stuff first.

Ok, if you're LUCKY, the CryoPlasm might take 20 or 30 hours to hit your base. If you're UNlucky, it might be there in 4-8 hours. Once it gets there... well, you don't have a base down there to do anything to. You can always beam surface power down to protect an area to get a Geothermal plant

You have a fair point regarding the calmers tho, I'll add that. I don't think many people would have seen that in advance, tho.

My advice would be to get some of the new Cluster missiles up and running - in my opinion, they should make defending the OET much MUCH easier whilst you charge it.

I'm not sure I'd roll back, but that's your call. Me, I love the challenge of digging into the CryoPlasm and telling it who's boss :-)

Its my first game and i would prefer to know most of the stuff before i start such a challenge.
But does that mean i could use my backup where i didnt power the C5 and the Cryo doesnt spawn?

No reason not to roll back to a previous copy of your world, if you have one!

Like i said. I made a backup after i built the C5 but before i gave power to it. If thats enough to prevent the Cryo to spawn ill use it and clear the Surface before i proceed.

Well my backup has no use. calmers still not working. and the backup folder has no use too. Used one from 4pm but the C5 is already there even tho i didnt had it at this time. dunno why there is a backup folder then if they dont backup anything. so my savegame is totally useless and i have to start over.......or just quit the game forever. 150 hours for nothing. or maybe i could look if i can modify my save to give me everything i need. really sucks there is such a lack of informations. the wiki is pretty empty and almost nothing usefull in there.

maybe im too dramatic here but its so frustrating after 150 hours to fail like this.

The wiki is being updated as we speak, I've probably put close to 4 hours today on updating information and there are atleast 2 others updating it. However, there is a lot of stuff in this game to update and I'm putting priority on information that new players need first. T4 stuff is going to be near the end, It's stuff that is still constantly being changed and is one of the last things a new player should worry about.

With that said it's not the end of the world to have the C5 built before your ready. It just makes things harder. Personally I would look at it as an additional challenge. I'm keeping the surface attacks going on my world for the challenge. Otherwise I could easily divert close to 10k PPS from my lasers to the cold caverns once I start up the C5.

Maniac Jul 20, 2016 @ 4:55pm
I dont really know what the cryo does. i know its crawling closer to the C5 and then i guess its filling everything up like a fed hivemind. but my whole ressource line from the depth is running through that area and it would really slow down my progress (and im already pretty slow)

btw which wiki are you working on. i have found 3 so far but dont know which is the best one

The community has decided that we will be using http://fortresscrafte.wikia.com/wiki/FortressCraft_Evolved_Wiki that wiki. However the majority of the work has been started a couple of days ago and before then the wiki hasn't been updated since march or there abouts. DJ did a lot of work since then, including the majority of T4.

Overall Cryo isn't that bad. From my first world where I believe I had the maximum that the Cryo would damage my base and it was recoverable from. Made it more interesting to work out ways to build and luckily my main mineshaft was just inside the protection range of the C5. From what I can see from that world you have about a 50m radius in which the C5 will stop Cryoplasm from getting to. the Cryoplasm will just surround the C5 in a nice shell.

If you can get to the point where you can build lancers and place a few near your mineshafts with power from the surface you should be able to keep them clear.
bendezium2003 Jul 20, 2016 @ 6:46pm
Sounds like I'd want a massive power base on the surface before I attempt to do the Frozen Factory stuff. Just started a dedicated T2 ores-only line meant to take in gold/nickel/titan and make nothing but alloyed blocks for T3/4/5 power and T3 LETs. Cryo sounds like you need serious power to drive everything.
Nedrith Jul 20, 2016 @ 6:53pm
You do and also to power the blast furnace. However by the time you go to the cold caverns your OET should have fired 4 times and you can use your entire OET charging setup to power the cold caverns along with any power for the laser defenses. That should provide enough power to get a geothermal power plant and it's particle filtration speed boost up and running.

Or you could build a ton of power and transport it down.
