Organic cutterhead automation
Guys, I have set up automated organic cutter head production, and I noticed this:
Organic cutter head created manually at a factory yields 5 heads per 4 stingers and a liquid resin.
Automated it yields a *single* head per 4 stingers, a liquid resin, and an "insane" amount of power.
Is this a bug, am I doing something wrong? It's so much cheaper for me now to just batch create a lot of heads, and use the distribution network I have, as that way I can 5x as much heads, and that way it will finally fill up the network.

I just read up some history, a plasma cutter head delivers 100% efficiency with a longer lifespan, and lower resource costs...

the autom manufacturing thing has been a longstanding bug, i honestly dont think its gonna be fixed anytime soon either :P.

Altho its pretty rare youll want to automate the organic head anyway. By the time your able to get enough stingers to warrant it, youll have much easier access to plasma head.

Plasma charged head give 100% efficiency, twice the ore harvesting at a slightly lower durability (2000 vs 2500 on organic). They are relatively cheap to make except that they cost around 50k power to charge.

For making the plasma heads I have used pyros to make the electricity for them and while slow if you set up multiple ones you can get more than you use fairly easily. I have also set up solar panels to power them and again if you set up enough you never have to worry about running out of them.

The way I see it Organic heads are a 'stop gap' measure you make manually until you have the resources and power to get plasma head automation up and running, although they don't need a lot more.

If you got an automation network setup to deliver the heads already, then I would have thought you can just throw the necessary manufacturers to get plasma heads made instead.

Don't forget that although the head charger needs 800pps (although I was on scarce power?), you do save a bit of power by being able to run a much lower rated drill since it runs at 4x speed.

and even at scarce, its still only 50k power total for 1 plasma head, which can then get enough coal for 240000 power (with no enricher/infuser) so its always worth it to just setup a dedicated coal mine and power your plasma head production with it.

Thanks guys! I have now set up a dedicated plasma head generator with 4 falcor beacons. Took a while before it filled up the whole chain (100+2+2+2+2), but I can now encase it in the middle of the mass storage system... The only upgrade it will get is probably using an MK4 battery with solar panels to charge it, and send the excess energy to an MK5.

I do miss that I can just put 4 falcor beacons around an ore extractor, and a solar panel on top and have my falcor bay retrieve the ore. It was working pretty well. But this actually works better.
Even the matter mitters were not so effective for distribution, since I lost a lot somewhere... weird.

"lost a lot somewhere" - I've done that a few times.
Every time it was accidentally having my regular conveyor/pipe from my extractor also touching my logistics hopper receiving my plasma heads from a matter mitter - oops.

Only yesterday I did that and found 13 plasma heads in a hopper next to a PTG.
Baring in mind I'd only created about 20 in total, I was wondering what was going on for a while.
