Multiplayer Port issues
I've beein trying to play with my good friend Centiven, but whenever I try to connect to him, even though I confirmed he has set up a portforward of both udp and tcp to 27012, it doesn't work and I cannot connect to him. It works fine if he tries to connect to me, but my upload speed is so bad i get a 35% packet loss... so I cannot.
Does anyone have any advice?
he is using a netiaspot router if it helps.

If he's setup those ports correctly, and it doesn't work, I have a sneaking suspicion he hasn't setup the ports correctly! Potentially a software firewall in the way?

Yeah, he mentioned having a firewall program that isn't windows. I'll check with him. Thanks!

I would like to point out that the uPnP isn;t working correctly, it says it cannot find it, but uPnP is enabled on both of our routers.

Just keep in mind, if you have already manually forwarded the ports (or if the router thinks the ports are already tied up with something else) the router will tell the game uPnP has failed.

Really? Well, the ports are all free, and uPnP says it doesn't have anything setup.
On a side note, we couldn't get the connection to work. We know that the issue (one of them at least) is caused by the router, as we even completely disabled his firewall for a moment to test, and we still couldn't get in.

that's funny actually

if you don't portforward then the game will say success even if upnp doesn't actually work

Huh? That's not true in any case I've ever heard of. The game must get a port for it to report success. You probably are confused by another firewall blocking the connection. The game can get a port by uPnP but be blocked by software.

so if unpnp says success and both firewall and antivirus are disabled then anyone should be able to connect me :P?
(only steam and FCE enabled etc)

Yes, the game only reports it has an open port from uPnP... when it knows it has an open port. It only can't tell when the port is forwarded separately because it can't test that.

Yes
well...
-I have just disabled everything. (firewall and antivirus too)
-after this I have restarted steam and started FCE
-started singleplayer game, ESC->multiplayer->host
-it says that:
uPnP has successfully punched port [[27012FortressCraft Evolved Server]]
-I have waited a moment and gave IP to 1 player, when he tries to join then he is timed out.

Can router block something on the way in this case? (ISP doesn't allow to access/configure so I have no idea what's on it)
or maybe firewall/antivirus still work until PC restart even if they say they don't?

erm..
After some time of waiting I have got "Fatal error in gc" saying "GetThreadContext failed", pressed ok and got
The game crashed.
The crash report folder named "2018-12-15_154138" next to game executable.
It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!

soo... is it possible to send .rar on discord?

Timing out = Succes connection. He saw your server online.

If he saw your server name and that it is online after entering the ip, the problem is not the port.
It is a other bug with bad internet connection from one person.
Server gets message, that the user that trys to connect will be kicked because of packet loss.

= this info should be somewhere in my log, right? (host)
or the client's log?

also checked the crash error.log and according to google it's cause by not enough RAM (8GB is too low for world with few machines?)
some kernelbase .dll caused breakpoint etc etc

packetloss means that the host's upload speed or the clients' download speed is not fast enough and means that it is incapable or sending enough information at one time. This is likely the bottleneck of the host and their upload speed.
E.g: my download is 23mbps, but my upload is only 0.8mbps.
Thus, I can play on other servers, but I cannot host.

If packetloss then there is a message at the chat window.
The reason is not overload. Getting it with a friend Allways. Other friend has no problems. It is a kind of packet loss form your internetconnection, if client has a to fast connection.
I call it a bug and it is Old. You can search the forum for it. Very common.

Chat window had no messages = it wasn't packet loss?
