How do mynocks work?
Hi! First of all I would like to say thank you for this awesome game. I generaly like the new patches that have come up recently. :)

But now I have a small problem.

I started a new world when the patch 19 came out. I have now progressed to the state where I need refined liguid resin. So I set up the usual resing collecting / refining system next to a hivemind. Previously, hivemind would automatically regrow their resin shell if player took resin blocks away from it, so getting resin worked fine even without feeding the hivemind.

In P19 it seems that the hiveminds don't regrov their shell automatically anymore. So, I decided to put up a small and simple system to feed the hivemind. I made a conveyr belt line with around 40 belts, which form a loop. In the middle of the loop is a storage hopper, where I put a few ores, which then started to travel around the loop. The loop is located at the depth of 105 meters.

I suppoused that mynocks would appear on the line after a while and start eating the ores. However, I have now played around 2 hours already, and mynocks still haven't appeared. In fact, I haven't seen a single mynock during the entire gaming experience in this new world.

What is wrong? I am playing with the trivial mobs setting, if that matters. I have played with the same setting before, and mynocks have appeared. Has this changed in P19? Don't mynocks appear on trivial mobs setting anymore?

Answers would be greatly appreciated! :)

You can accelerate the mynock process by ensuring your loop occupies the most number of segments - Press F9 to view them.

2 hours seems awfully long, mind you.

I plan to add in the ability to purposely feed hiveminds.

Ok, I'll check the segments. Thanks alot for the answer! =) And thanks once more for the awesome game! :)

Try to make the belt only 2 long after hopper. No loop.
Other test is, to restart game.
View Holo view if you are near the active hive and not a inactive.

im having the same issue trying to feed the hivemind and not getting any mynocks and i played all day today. i did notice a few blocks regrowing after like 6-8 hours of playing do i need to make a really big loop of conveyors below it instead of a small one?. also totally harvested all the hard resin from a pair of hiveminds and the top one dissapeared, are they supposed to poof if u harvest the whole shell? spent so much time trying to avoid mynocks now i cant seem to attract them lol. is there only one special hive mind that im supposed to feed ? not sure what "active hive" means game-wise.

Yes. It is only one active Hive on the world. See in holo view whitch is red and displayed.
Red arrows will show the way.

Okay. I have now located the active hivemind. Does it matter where I build my feeding system? Do I need to build it directly under the hivemind? Does depth matter?

I have read from the wiki that mynocks only spawn on belts that are deep enough. If the belts need to be close to the active hivemind, and also deep enough, say 80 meters, I have a bit of a problem, since the active hivemind is on the surface. I mean that it's located at a positive Y.

Pretty much you can feed them from wherever.

Thanks, I will try to get it working! :)

To stay clear: Feeding if they are there. But there is no over -80m
Best trick: Send ore with matter mover to belt in -80m
Matter mover can be blocked by Resin

Another trick if you need to slow down feeding is to put up an ore extractor (e.g. coal) and feed the output into a macerator and feed the output that into the mynocks. Macerators only create output for a small portion of their input.
