Logistics FALCOR ranges...?
I've read in the wiki that the Mini Falcor collects from the segment the beacon is in, and from its neighbor segments - implying that the exact range from Falcor to beacon is more a rule of thumb and it makes sense to ímplent this based on segments, from a dev point of view.

So my question is: is this the same for Logistics FALCORs? Meaning, a square of 16x16 segments centered around the segment where the logistics falcor is placed, and aligned to segment boundaries? This would make planning easier, it's easier to think of the map as having subgrids like that (which it actually has).

Well no because beacons for logistics falcors must be placed directly on the hopper they are collecting from so only the 256m limit applies.

Those hoppers are inside a segment as well, just as the regular beacons are placed on specific map coordinates. I don't see why they need to have different behaviors. Abstracting to segments makes sense to increase performance when searching stuff, using exact distance makes more sense for the player.

By the way, just tested around a bit with FALCORs for the first time, managed to supply an ore extractor for iron (so around -65 meters deep) with drill heads from the surface per logistics FALCOR (who ignore walls and ceilings on their way anyway), so I guess I'm gonna abuse that from now on. ;)

The abstraction to segments is for item collection of the beacon. The falcor needn't do any such search. Finding the beacons themselves is easy.

Because in one circumstance, the beacon is interacting with a hopper, and in the other circumstance, the beacon is interacting with X items in Y segments. The player simply needs to know the range is 'at least' 16 metres, which is what I believe the handbook says.

I would love to see an range indicator of the nearest falcor when placing beacons so its easy to se whenever they are in range or not, no real guess work. (recycle the same logic/gfx as the turret range indicators?) or during an mouseover like the turrets.

Great game btw, worth every penny
