It is handy for Quarries but I think I have only really used it once? Maybe twice. So it doesn't bother me if you remove it.

Used it once to "see how it works". Quarries are too inneficient for ore mining anyway. Still good for big hole though.

Used it as a "newbie" and was happy to do so because I was frightened of all these attacks. Nowadays I don't even unlock it in the research station :P

Never used it (the surveyor). As for quarry: only used quarry once in first playthrough, it was fun, but since there is zero consistency in which ore you get I see no use in connecting it to rest of base (with filters and such). Time and effort is much better spent in actually finding the ores and work from there.

Nope. Never used the surveyor as there was never a reason to. The only real use a quarry has is making a big hole to turn out construction paste, with the ore being sent down to feed the resin farm. If I were to make a suggestion on that, I'd say give the quarry a UI so we can set what it will pick up and what it will simply obliterate.

A mk2 quarry would be awesome! Only picks up 1 type of item, like ore, just destroys everything else!

I think it can be removed. I use quarries mainly for construction paste. I'm only interested in what's at the surface because once they dig into an ore vein I normally move them.

I set up quarries for the challenge and funsies. I was disappointed to learn that the "basic" quarry has no vanilla upgrade.

I used a surveyor to set up the quarry the first time. The output is too vague to be useful. I ended up with about 50k gold bars from the first hole, but no nickel... never enough nickel.

Wow. I didn't ever use the thing but I never would have expected the answer to be this unanimously congruent. Not really surprised though.

I used it once, was neat, but ultimately the quarry's more for making a big hole and the neato factor than as a viable extraction tool. Therefore I haven't used a surveyor in over a year.

What about an imporved quarry that has much higher mining efficiency? Less adept at digging holes due to ore veins but returns a higher amount of ore. Maybe then people would use quarries for the ore rather than digging holes.

The times I have used it, I used it to miss as many veins as possible so I didn't waste ore.
