Storage crate: how to craft?

Hello-
I have this silly issue where I can't craft a storage crate. It says "unkown item." However, I thought they were made of wooden planks, and I have wooden planks. Maybe they are made of something else?

I have no idea what the unknown item is. It should be wood, idk if dj changed it.

Tree trunks are obtained by shift-clicking on the colorful phallic shapes in the world then collecting the pieces that fall from them to the ground.

5 wooden planks are made from a tree trunk and can be crafted by hand (press C) or at a manufacturing plant. They are listed in the defense category and they are available at the start of the game with no research unlocks.

Storage crates (base tan color) are made of 5 wooden planks in the manufacturing plant. They are listed in the storage category. You cannot build them until you research the Storage Crate recipe for 1 point at the research station. If you have never crafted these hey will still show up as unknown in the recipes for the colored storage crates.

The construction paste grinder is unlocked by researching the Aesthetics research project for 5 points in the research station. It is made of 16 rough hewn rock which can be dug up under the surface crust of the planet anywhere down to -63m depth.

Construction paste is made by feeding rock, stone, and other dirt types that you dig up from the ground into a construction paste grinder. It is listed in the Decorations category.

Red, blue, or green canvas are made from 1 construction paste at the manufacturing plant. They are located in the Decorations category. They become available after you research the Aesthetics research project for 5 points at the research station. If you have never crafted these hey will still show up as unknown in the recipes for the colored storage crates.

Colored storage crates are made from a storage crate (base tan color) and some combination of red, blue, and green canvas (depending on the color) at the manufacturing plant and they are located in the storage category. They become available after you research the Aesthetics research project for 5 points at the research station.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out I failed to research the storage crate. It was showing up in the crafting menu on the manufacturing plant, but the material for crafting it was "unknown item." The issue was not that the material for crafting was unknown, but the recipe itself had not been researched. All is well now. Thanks again! -Scott
