FortressCraft Evolved

Cargo Lifts for single, or multiple resources
I'm curious what others do.
Do you use a single cargo life to pull out 2 or more resources at a time from the depths?
or
Do you one cargo lift for EACH resource (i.e. one for titanium, one for nickel, etc, etc).
If you use just one, how do you handle proper resource distribution? I've seen it discusses as far back as '16, but I haven't seen how anyone handles pulling multiple resources from one lift, ESPECIALLY if one backs up or something. Like for example if your Titanium goes unused, the lift fills with it, never empties to go back for more of the other resources, and other such issues.

I think most players of this game uses multiple lifts simply because it's going to be difficult managing multiple ores in a single lift.

One cargo lift for each resource. If things don't mix, then you never have to filter/separate them.

Oh god i'm going to have to make more rails...
Ok, You're both certainly not wrong, but I love the IDEA of being able to pump 200 of each into a lift, and sorting them out at the top...but there's no good mechanics for it I guess :(

There are mechanincs that can do that but truthfully you'll want at least one lift per ore to quickly haul LOTS of it up to the surface. Later in the game you'll probably be extracting from more than one vein of a given type of ore at a time.... :) And that's using the top tier heads and motors on the extractors.........

Oh and you'll want to fully automate the rail making.......

I used to do this when I was new to the game. The big problem is that eventually one of your metals is going to back up and choke the whole system unless you build ever expanding storage or start macerating surplus material.

Fortunately i DID do that immediately, but I shut off mass production when I thought I had what I needed :(

Yeah that happened IMMEDIATELY, which brought me here for a solution.

Oh, it's not that it doesn't work. But you will soon be chewing through 300 ore so fast the lift can't keep up. And because you're sharing, that means your getting even less ore than you need. Then, you'll get sick of waiting for more ore to come up the lift, and end up building a second lift anyway. You'll realize that the solution to your problem is finding a way to ramp up the iron -> rack rail production and make separate lifts, instead of trying to penny-pinch your way through sharing lifts, and building fewer rack rails.

Don't worry. If you play anything like I do you'll make plenty more mistakes :)

It'll be a LONG time before you can make too many rails since you'll be running multiple lifts to all sorts of levels hundreds of meters below the ground. Also if you get into the freight system you'll use them to make the tracks for the freight carts.

If you've got FF then by the end of the game you'll need around 3.5km of cargo lift rails, so around 7,000 rails, plus some extra for minecart track. Kind-of reinforces the scale of the game, doesn't it.

And if you plan to challenge Brian's impressive railgun times, you'll need many times more than even that....m

I feel so small...

Planing for ForzenFactory expansion is different and a other task.
Having also some good tips where the bottlenecks are then (;

Simply do not mix the ore types.

I got 3 lifts going and it all works swimmingly. Thanks everyone for the input!
