spiderbot leaving the planet?
This started occurring either after the latest patch or when I began charging the orbital energy transmitter, that I began noticing my spiderbot was no where to be found. After many many game restarts, as that seemed the only way to bring him back, I discovered that when I left the area to which he would render completely, he would begin to lift off the planet surface to eventually just vanish completely.

Running no mods and have re-validated files several times. I have also rebuilt the spiderbot platform thinking that would fix it. My last play through this was not an issue so I am guessing I'm bugged? Is there anyway to fix this?

Several times now I have returned to where the spiderbot is fighting and see him falling to the ground from high in the air. It seems like the segment is unloaded when I get far enough away and the spiderbot does not know where the ground is, so he keeps climbing higher. Once I get close and the segment is loaded again, he realizes he's flying and falls to the ground.

While i of course understand DJ moving on and doing other things, i blatantly and flat out do not understand leaving a major feature (spiderbot) completely and utterly broken as a way to leave a game "finished"

P25 will fix spiderbro when it is finished.

what is P25..? I quit under the impression the game is as is.. Dev still working on it?

DJ's definitely moved onto other projects, which is cool and so he should. I'm just living in hope (hopefully not lost hope it sounds like) that this one remaining *glaring* bug will be fixed so i can finally do a proper full playthrough from start to finish

P25 has descended to modern legend status. At this point I have little faith it will ever come to fruition unless DJ personally says different. I've seen where he said he would fix SpiderBot in 'the next' update. That update happened and spidey is still broken.

P25 isn't released yet. FCE isn't the focus anymore so it doesn't get a lot of time put into it. He'll get to it though. I'm sure some of it is taking time to think through what the fix would be.

As I understand it, the bot is fine as long as it's within "loaded distance"... but then goes awol when you get a distance away.
The game has cheat codes/commands, right?
Is there one to summon a spider bot, or teleport it?
A workaround could be, just a button you push to force the spider bot to return to its pad. Even an ugly version of "destroy current spiderbot and spawn new one on pad" would be preferable to what's currently happening.
If the dev cannot fix this right now due to other ongoing things, perhaps one of those clever modders out there could?

It's just kinda sad that a nice feature of the game isn't worth the time to even try to use.

spiderbot works if a person cleans up the places it likes to travel. its time consuming and whatnot but the end result is a spiderbot that makes the rounds and keeps on defending. the one i work with clearly has issues about going into resin caves or climbing snowy mountains with ravines in between. once the ground is even from point to point along its route it just does its thing. clearly the spiderbot is part of a union

Interesting... I thought it had something to do with having to walk uphill. I think if the segment unloads and it is walking uphill, then it just keeps going up until it gets to some point where it's just gone.

Hey steve, is it possible to force load a segment for something that isn't machineentity?
I can't find function for something like this

Yes, the CPH can do it. See either cart for how. Don't see how that's relevant to this topic though...

I have just started to mess around with spider code.
For whatever reason it ignores me when I force teleport him so I thought that maybe something will fix itself if I load the segment which he is currently in and his target segment

He's not a machine, he doesn't have a segment the way that machines do.

that's why I asked

when player is close to him then the segments which he visits aren't null, when I get away then they return null from GetSegment function

But... well... something keeps dropping the segments I load by CPH :/
Do I need to load them constantly?
He stops teleporting as long as segments are loaded by CPH :D
But it lasts like 1-2s until they get dropped and I have to load them again ;d
Where is code responsible for his movement in the world?
the one that affects
SpiderBody.mCurrentX; SpiderBody.mCurrentY; SpiderBody.mCurrentZ;
I can't find it, spiderbody class changes only vector basing on those coords.

Also, would it have big performance impact to trick game that player is in 2 locations?
The real one and next to spider?
Or maybe create fake client player that hovers infront of spider?
