each tier of ore(copper, tin, lithium = tier 1, gold, titanium, nickle = tier 2) has different pattern, so each ore is distinguishable by their color and pattern.
but to answer your question, no there is no mod for that.

you can learn the colors and patterns here.

Colors are to close and you only have two shapes, Circle or square and they are not broken by Tier exclusively, if they were you'd need more shapes. If you didn't find T1 ores where T2 and T3 ores are then this might not be such a visually bad system.

I only use ore pings to ping specific ores because I can't differentiate a lot of the ores when doing an all color scan. Some are easy but for the rest it's just not worth the waist in power to do a color scan.

they are separated by Tiers, all Tier 1 ores are Circular and all tier 2 ores are cube shape, on top of their respected color.

The more I play, the more I appreciate the handcrafted one-type ore ping. if you're searching for a specific type of ore, it's far more effective if you can find even a single seed ore chunk to ping with.

I said exclusivly. Dude look at Moly and below. They use the same shapes as T1 and T2....same damn colors as well. The deeper you go the more worthess the color/shape system becomes.

welp deeper than moly and chromium are unused ores that cannot be mined without mods so they don't matter :D

Since finding T1 at the depth of T4 is very hard, the fact that they have the same shape doesn't kill this system

About same colors -> according to the page mentioned earlier in thread only gold and molybdenum have the same color but different shape

I'm a bit colorblind so I just use the specific ore pings. I think if the colored ore was seen as a problem, the solution would be to make the ore pings infinite use, then you only need to craft one then take it with you.

I think that it would be possible to create mod where game will automatically craft ore pings when you want to use them for free. (Basically you have 0 pings in inventory but you have it on your toolbar, you press it and game crafts+uses ping)

Kind of like you can do now with the tourch light.. if you have coal in your inventory. So you'd need to carry some of all the ores wouldn't you?

Really don't think it's necessary as you aren't searching for ores often enough that you can't just make a few pings when you need them. Personnally when I make ore pings I'll craft 20 or 30 and put any extras in a chest I rarely have to make the same pings twice.

I"m old, my eyes aren't what they used to be. All I can say is when I"m around 400 looking for Nickle I can't tell poo apart. I would prefer a system that A) didn't glow like light bright B) didn't fade so fast and C) didn't drive my ears bonkers.

Having the Ore ping system solves all my issues so I am happy it's an option.

It doesn't prevent crafting those.
Both crafting it legit and crafting for free will be avaible (unless I disable way to craft them, but it would be pointless because you won't be able to get them on toolbar)

I thought about replacing legit recipes with cheat recipe which would automatically craft pings if you need them (and allow you to craft manually too)

The game has bugs when it comes to automatic crafting but there is reliable workaround.
It would autocraft as long as you have any amount of certain item (I would have to choose item which is the most common like hopper/organic detritus/rocks/construction paste)
Not sure if it is hard to code something that fits into suit inventory but I basically could create item like "Ping automizer" which you place into suit battery and it would work as long as you have it :D

Yeah you know way more about coding then I do I'll take your word for it. How about just a mod that gives us a machine to Automate crafting Ore pings. hehe

I'm just using basic modding so it would 1 machine per each ping ;d (14 pings = 14 machines)
Guys who make advanced mods should be able to create single machine to craft them all (you would choose)

Anyway could someone who messes with game plugins tell us if the colors of the pings are moddable?
I think that stuff like this would be hard coded, but could anyone confirm?

I thought wrong ;d
Game won't autocraft pings.
It seems that game autocrafts only cubes ;c (blocks/machines/etc)

At best I can allow you to manually craft pings for free anytime you want.

Ok, thanks for info.
So mod changing those colors will never exist ;D

I mean if a modder really felt like it they should be able to duplicate the code that does the scan, make a new item to ping the ore using that new code and set the color however they feel like it.

There's nothing stopping a modder from doing that.
